**Senior Lecturer**:
**Language Education - English Teaching**

The Language Education Department seeks to advance the Faculty of Education’s commitment to research-driven service to the basic education (school) sector via the promotion of multilingual, dialogical and decolonising approaches to language teacher education.
- Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, particularly in English Method at Foundation Phase and/or Senior-FET Phase
- Conduct research and publish in the field of language education
- Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
- Undertake curriculum development and assessment
- Community engagement and outreach
- Administration and serving on institutional committees
- Engage in national and international networks

**Minimum Requirements**

**Minimum Requirements**
- A Doctoral qualification or equivalent in language education, preferably in English Language and Literacy teaching/Method of English, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, preferably in English Method or a related field
- A research and publications record (comprising peer reviewed and/or accredited journal articles, books or book chapters in reputable publications)
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision

**The following would be added advantages and/or recommendations**:

- Proficiency in or ability to work with South African languages (particularly isiXhosa and Afrikaans)
- Foundation Phase teaching and/or lecturing experience
