SHEQ Superintendent you will work closely with the SHEQ Manager in all aspects of delivery of the Company’s Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management Systems. This will include but not limited to undertaking audits and inspections, developing operating procedures, preparing reports and statistics, delivering presentations as well as providing advice and guidance to management, employees and sub-contractors.
RESPONSIBILITIE
Implement and comply with the company objectives, goals and targets.
Assist the BU manager/Line Manager to set up annual SHEQ objective, goal, and targets for each business unit.
Communicate and ensure awareness of company policies, targets, objectives, and goals within the division.
Assist the division in planting the desired safety culture and conducting relevant roadshows and campaigns to improve the safety culture.
POLICY, TARGETS, OBJECTIVES & GOALS

LEGAL ASPECTS / REQUIREMENTS
Ensure company policy, procedures and practices are legally complaint and in line with requirements of risk management best practices.
Update company policy, procedures, and practices to keep up with legislative amendments and changes in risk management best practices.
Ensure submissions of applicable statutory r reports and documents
Develop and maintain a system for legal appointments.
Assist and advise sites on all legal aspects and the SHEQ management system.
Liaison with client and regulatory bodies (DMRE, Dept. of Labor, etc.).
Ensure compliance to statutory requirements e.g., Workmen’s Compensation
Assist the division in the implementation, certification and management of formal SHEQ management i.e. ISO 9001, 45001 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
Manage employee health exposure levels within acceptable limits.
Monitor environmental compliance and implementation of action plans,
Monitor quality control compliance and actions to address deviations.
REPORTING, RECORDING AND/OR REVIEW
Prepare and present relevant statistics (daily weekly monthly reports, etc) as required.
Regularly inform line management of the risk status of their areas of responsibility.
Keep record of statistics and reports.
Report safety observations, incidents, and accidents.
Conduct incident investigations and compile relevant reports with findings and actions to address deficiencies and deviations.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
Assist in preparation of proposal/tender document.
Continual promotion of the health and safety ethos and culture at all levels of the company including sub-contractors
Establish a Project Plan for each special project.
Provide ongoing feedback to management on the project.
Review the project at the end of the project to ensure.
QUALIFICATION
Relevant Btech/Degree
Safety Management Qualification, SAMTRAC, NADSAM Diploma
A formal tertiary qualification applicable to the risk domain will be advantageous.
EXPERIENCE
5-8 years applicable experience in mining/construction industry.
ISO 9001, 45001, 14001 and OHSAS18001 implementation and management
Experience in Management of load and haul with earth moving equipment will be advantageous.
