Senior Medical Advisor

**Introduction**
**Role Purpose**
This exciting role will require the incumbent to enable and support the Myriad claims and underwriting management capability through risk assessment evaluation. Provide support to Product Developmentteam on product innovation initiatives.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Surgery required
- 2-3 years clinical practice in government or clinical practice including patient care with diagnosistreatment and follow up.
- ECG literacy is required.
- Registered with the HPCSA
- Basic computer literacy
- At least 2-3 years Life Insurance experience in underwriting and claims
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Responsible for providing clinical advisory services to the retail claims, underwriting and legal departments on matters arising from medical risk.
- Assist with the assessment of claims that require medical and clinical input. Engage with medical professionals in respect of specific claims.
- To provide insights to medical advances that may impact product design capabilities. Assist with criteria to assess new medical conditions in line with the policy terms and conditions (e.g. Covid19)
- To acquire deeper insight into profitability to assist the research and analytics capability.
- Deliver medical presentations and medical education programs to stakeholders within business
and external audiences (including channels).
- To partner and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, not limited to claims, product development, underwriting, reinsurance partners or other industry experts to improve claims assessment approaches, criteria, definitions and client experience.
- Keep abreast of medical trends, legislation and best practices within the financial and medical field in order to optimise service offering and delivery.
- To provide support in the development and implementation of tools that allow for increased, efficient decision-making capabilities.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal clients and stakeholders aligned to the MMI values.
- Drive a culture that guides and directs best practice, fostering an environment of continuous learning, improvement and cohesiveness. Enable a learning and growth culture whereby information regarding successes, issues, trends and ideas are actively shared between team members.
