**About the role**: The position entails overseeing the timely delivery of quality content across diverse communication channels, ensuring adherence to communication guidelines, fact-checking procedures, and suitability for various mediums. Additionally, it involves formulating communication strategies, overseeing content preparation, and drafting media releases to support Medihelp's communication objectives for different stakeholders.

**Essential functions of the job**:
Maintain an up-to-date communication guide with rules and guidelines.
Adapt content for diverse audiences and communication channels.
Edit and approve content from copywriters and journalists.
Enforce adherence to content preparation deadlines.
Guide copywriters in effective content formulation.
Ensure continuous communication of trends and industry information.
Formulate strategies for Medihelp's stakeholders to support communication objectives.
Oversee the preparation and sign-off of content for plans in consultation with Senior Manager: Communications and Head: Marketing.
Draft media releases.
Guide and prepare scripts for strategic videos (launch and annual general meeting).
Liaise with external journalists for wellness content.
Update and brief the team on content for various projects.
**Report weekly to senior manager**: communication and head: marketing.
Maintain regular communication with the team to ensure motivation, discuss challenges and ideas, adhere to deadlines, and align tasks with strategic objectives.
Qualification and experience

A three-year tertiary or equivalent qualification in journalism, copywriting, editing, communication or public relations with at least eight years’ experience in journalism, marketing, client service, public relations, and/or communication required.
Two years must be on managerial level.

**Skills and knowledge**:
Exceptional skills in all aspects of verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
Professional experience in the theory, practice, and technique of communication, journalism, and writing compelling content.
Computer literate in MS Office.
Must possess a valid driving license.
Creative.
Adaptable.
Ability to persuade.
Leadership.
Conflict handling.

**Knowledge of the following**:
Medical Scheme Act;
Communication/marketing material and other medical schemes;
Policies and procedures;
Scheme Rules;
Objectives and strategy of the Scheme; and
Medihelp’s corporate identity.
