Senior Bookkeeper

**Duties**:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the agency.
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing.
Conduct monthly reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy.
Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Administer payroll, benefits, and statutory deductions.
Assist with budget preparation and financial planning processes.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits.
Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making processes.
**Technical skills**:
Proficiency in generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting, and transaction recording.
Expertise in Sage Evolution Accounting and Pastel Payroll software is a must.
Ability to perform financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support business decisions.
Particularly strong skills in Excel for managing and analysing financial data.
Experience with managing invoices, payments, and financial transactions to ensure cash flow is accurately recorded and managed.

**Problem-solving**: Ability to identify financial issues and discrepancies and implement effective solutions promptly.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external partners.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong ethics to handle sensitive financial information discreetly and securely.
Ability to work effectively within the finance interns and collaborate with other departments.
Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and financial strategies.
**Compliance knowledge**:
Understanding of relevant financial legislation, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
