**Scope and general purpose of the job**:

- To uphold the highest standard of the Front Office Operation and Administration
- To deliver the best personal service to our guests.
- To promote and sell The Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa and its facilities.
- To maintain the highest level of social skills in order to enhance the image of the hotel.

**Responsibilities**
- To be an ambassador to your Hotel & Department.
- Checking in and out of guests.
- Taking of reservations.
- Handling of guest complaints in a satisfactory manner.
- Marketing your Hotel (telephonically or personally).
- Cashiering - balancing and cashing up of all the day’s takings during your shift.
- Liaise with all departments.
- Know your area (Strand, SW, Gordon’s Bay Cape Town), and all current happenings and Tourist attractions. This will enable you
- to help guests with questions or queries.
- Night Audit relief (must be familiar with night audit functions and job description).
- Set up for groups:

- Welcome drinks must be ordered from F &B.
- All keys, registration cards must be in order and in placed on the group arrival table.
- Liaise with porters/housekeeping when any room allocations changes to groups are made and instruct them to make
amendment.
- Making sure that all ledger accounts are closed off and sent to accounts receivable with all necessary documentation.
- Ensures a clean and neat working environment.
- Be able to understand and operate the switchboard.
- Must have a knowledge of foreign currency and the way we use them and the method we use to convert foreign currency to rand value.
- Responsible for daily float and for any shortages.
- Understand and operate the Opera PMS.
- Have a knowledge of all VIP arrivals.
- Must do a pit check on every shift and ensure only relevant information is in the pit; all postings are correct; all dockets are neatly filed; all old guest info is correctly filed.
- To attend staff meetings and training programs when required.
- To always communicate and maintain good relations with guests, colleagues and Management.
- To always be aware of current trends, changes and happening that may occur in your hotel in order to make your job more efficient and for the establishment to function efficiently.
- Assist internal and external guests, place requests and answer queries in friendly manner.

**General duties**:

- To perform other duties, and / overtime, when so required
- Confidentiality: All written and verbal communication accessible to the employee relating to the company, management and hotel guest are to be confidential and not to be disclosed to any third party or otherwise. This includes names, addresses and personal details of all nature.
- Be familiar with Health and Safety and fire procedures and regulation.
- Attends to all meetings assigned to, and always provides a positive contribution, assistance and team spirit.
- Always attends and is attentive to any training offered.
- Oversee equipment maintenance and cleanliness of whole workstation.
