**Totalgaz Legal Department is looking for a Legal Affairs & Assets Manager to join their team**
**1. CONTRACTS MANAGEMENT**
- Maintaining a high standard of contracts. Evaluating the contents and making suitable amendments and negotiating improvements thereon;
- Maintaining a register of contracts and other legal documents
- Providing training and education to staff surrounding contracts, competition issues and liability principles.
**2. LEGAL ADVICE AND COMPLIANCE**
- Legal advisory function to all departments of the company on various matters including but not limited to competition matters and compliance with legislation and ensuring management remains abreast with all new developments in legislation and current events affecting the business;
- Managing and submission of licensing requirements applicable to the petroleum industry including environmental, railway siding licences, operational licences, hazardous storage licences, business retail licences;
**3. LITIGATION**
- Maintaining documentation and files for all legal actions; Liaise with company lawyers with regards to civil actions and providing lawyers with instructions.
**4. DELEGATIONS OF AUTHORITY**
- Maintain a register of company delegations of authority both internal and external; Maintain the internal levels of authority, including the updating and withdrawal of limits.
**5. INSURANCE**
- Management of all insurance claims (motor vehicles, property, labour related claims, mobile handsets, CGIC - credit insurance);
- Assess insurance of the business and compile annual review of insurance cover in order to ensure that the business is adequately insured and optimizing insurance spend.
**6. COMPANY POLICY AND PROCEDURES**
- Maintain an up-to-date register of all company policies and procedures;
**7. ETHICS AND COMPLIANCE**
- Assist the Ethics Officer of the company: responsible for ethics awareness within the company, compliance with the Group’s code of conduct and ethics standards as well as handling of any cases which are reported through the company’s whistle-blowing line and any unethical matters which may arise in the business.
- Assist with conducting of due diligence on third parties and keeping register of all due diligence files and records
**8. B-BBEE**
- Handling the annual audit for the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Certificate process on an annual basis as well as providing advice on maximizing the company’s B-BBEE scoring;
**9. ASSETS**
- Managing the Assets Coordinator in order to ensure proper control on assets and accountability of all assets.
**Context and environment**
- Based at Head Office and has dealing with all Totalgaz departments and depots as well as external customers, debtors and suppliers.
- LLB or equivalent, qualified attorney
- At least five years legal experience
- A high level of computer proficiency
- Knowledge of SAP, MS Office etc
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles and applicable legislation
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Very strong writing skills
