Role Purpose

This role is within WesBank and supports the purpose by measuring expected and unexpected risk inherent in the portfolio and building trust with stakeholders and regulators by ensuring that capital and provisions are correctly determined and set.

The role also supports the business to identify the risk return drivers and influencing the setting of the budget and risk appetite. In this role you will be responsible for analyzing the data that is used for managing the provision models and results for WesBank including Alliances and Associates (Toyota Financial Services and Volkswagen Financial Services), across Retail and Dealer Funding Solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

- Collaborate with FNB Retail, FNB Commercial and RMB to set-up cohesive risk practices.
- Provide data input for re-development and validation of credit provision, regulatory and economic capital models.
- Supporting the Finance and Collections team with detailed analysis on key performance metrics.
- Ensure that data used for reporting and monitoring of provision movements, along with required forecasting exercises is fit for purpose.
- Drive process optimisation and automation of WesBank processes.
- Stakeholder management across various areas within and outside of the Group
- Provide adhoc data analysis as and when required to support key decision making.
- Assist with the analysis of data quality issues and findings as input to the data quality issues remediation process.
- Support risk heads with ensuring ongoing compliance with the BCBS239 regulations through annual reviews of data flows.
- Query, clean and mine large data sets, connecting data from disparate sources to identify insights and patterns.
- Have strong knowledge of credit and lending products and channels.
- Deep domain knowledge of the credit value chain and technical understanding of the regulatory framework and best practice, as it relates to banking will be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge and experience in working with large data sets and creating management information reports.
- Strong understanding of Data Analytics in a large financial services organisation.
- Understand both the technical points of Data Management and Analytics, as well as the business drivers and needs.
- Understand regulations and legislation which require information or data management and analytics capabilities, communities and understand the dependencies between people, technology and the processes of Data Management.
- Intermediate to advanced level of experience working with SQL, MS Excel and other data visualization tools such as PowerBI, QlikView, etc.

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Qualification: Relevant Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or Econometrics.
- Preferred Qualification: Honours Degree
- Experience: A minimum of 5 - 8 years' experience in a similar role/environment, of which 2 - 3 years ideally at management level
- 5 - 8 years' relevant work experience and advanced level of proficiency in SQL, Excel and Data Visualization tools for Data analysis and MI Reporting.
