- OVERALL JOB PURPOSE Manage and optimise the entire Supply Chain of the Business Unit through: - Planning finished product and raw material needs - Purchasing traded goods, diesel, and spare parts - Warehousing manufactured items and finished buy out products - Driver management for the BU - Maintenance of own fleet to OEM standards - To optimise the cost to serve towards customers and satisfy all customers in accordance with our service policy KEY RESPONSBILITIES: 1. CENTRAL PLANNING: Constantly look to optimise all facets of the supply chain to add value to our customers whilst minimising the cost to serve Manage Sales and Operation meetings of the BU Direct or coordinate production, warehousing, distribution, stock on hand and forecasting activities to limit costs and improve accuracy, customer service and safety compliance. Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs Analyse inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste or optimise customer service Manage activities related to strategic or tactical planning, material requirements and inventory control 2. WAREHOUSING Direct the movement, storage and processing of inventory. Determine a sustainable vision and relative strategic overview for the efficient, cost-effective management of inventory levels and movement. Ensure such strategies are applied and complied with Ensure on-site efficiency of material flow / handling (management) from receiving through to end user. Optimize storage costs and minimize product losses for the BU. Ensure all product groups are counted weekly and that variances are investigated in line with the applicable business rules 3. TRANSPORT Coordinate and manage the transport activities of the BU in accordance with company policies (safety, transport, service to customers) to Manage external contractors and suppliers for all transport activities within the BU Optimize the route to customers and warehouses to minimize the cost to serve Manage drivers to ensure service excellence and delivery 4. WORKSHOP Direct the workshop team to minimise down time of all mobile assets Maintain and service fleet to OEM standard Maintain all loading, plant and equipment within the business Ensure vehicle up time standards are met Manage all spare parts stock items including diesel and tyres Conduct weekly cycle counts on all stock items and conduct investigations in line with set business rules Change agent for automation of all day-to-day processes 5. OPERATIONS Optimize all processes within the operations team to ensure constant value add to all internal and external stakeholders Work towards automating all day-to-day processes within the department Implementation of tracking and customer facing platforms to improve value add and customer experience within the business Management of all invoicing and filing of delivery notes Manage day and night shift loading operation to achieve daily output and sales targets Review and daily approval of stock related credits Management and coordination of all raw material and finished goods requirements 6. LOAD PLANNING Daily load and route planning of all available orders Key focus on truck utilization and optimization that ensures the best cost to serve and customer satisfaction Focus on digitizing the planning process and continuous improvement processes Management of the load plan on business platforms to create visibility for the sales and business unit 7. ORDER FULFILMENT Coordinate the picking of orders to ensure orders are delivered on time and in full Focus on accuracy and on time picking is critical to the overall success of the business and department 8. RELATIONS WITH OTHER FUNCTIONS Work closely with: - Sales to coordinate actions in the distribution network, anticipate customer needs and projects, ensure customer satisfaction, optimize stock, transport and customer deliveries - Safety BU organization to coordinate and manage safety in the organization - Finance for the follow-up of each department budget and to track the performance of the BU and distribution network, to optimize free cash flow and cost of inventories. - Information system to optimize stock, planning, purchasing and ordering process - HR for implementation of HR policies and to deal with HR people management - Dispatch for the loading of orders in line with sales expectation and forecast - Transporters and Suppliers - Other business units to benchmark and improve 9. ORGANISATION AND PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT Manage the supply chain and distribution network departments to achieve the target organisation Talent development in conjunction with HR Optimise resources (headcount, working processes, resource allocation) to ensure efficiency across the BU
