**_ Position Purpose:_**

To provide an integrated SHEQ Management service to ensure identification and management of risks within terminals and

its immediate operating environments. Support sustainability of the terminal, through the identification, development and

management of safety, health, environment and quality management systems, identification and mitigation of SHEQ risks,

reduction of loss and the development of a terminal wide safety culture and practices as per subscribed programs.

**_ Position outputs:_**

1.Facilitate the risk assessments for the terminal as well as reviews and ensure the compilation of the terminal risk register,

development of risk treatment plans to reduce exposure and ensure SHEQ mitigation is implemented.

2. Update, and implement core procedures and support the development and implementation of Safety, Health, Quality &
Environmental management systems to ensure an optimally safe workplace for employees and port users as well as

reducing the impacts of operations on the working environment. This includes but is not limited to ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO

45001 and SANS 3000-1.

3. Ensure the oversight of fire protection and prevention services to terminals through monitoring fire contracts and fire

readiness.

4. Maintain an emergency evacuation plans in accordance with the Terminal risk exposure as well as the review and testing

thereof.

5. Implementation of appropriate standards in accordance with best practice to effectively manage Safety, Health,

Environment and Quality aspects in an integrated and holistic manner.

6. Management and maintenance of the SHEQ management database and tools inclusive of but not limited to the TPT

SharePoint, the Transnet Integrated Management System on SharePoint and any electronic system Transnet subscribes to.

7. Determine, measure and report on safety, health, environment and quality objectives and targets as prescribed on SPO

and KPA dashboards.

8. Contribute to the TPT terminal strategic and general management objectives as a member of the governance forums.

9. Research and benchmark continuously to ensure best practice methodologies are implemented.

10. Contribute towards a comprehensive Occupational —and Primary health service to employees, and preventing
occupational exposure thereby contributing to Transnet productivity and safety strategies providing the assistance to the

Health Manager as required.

11. Liaise through formal and informal contact with external stakeholders and regulatory structures to inform, co-ordinate and

obtain input into relevant TPT Strategies and initiatives.

12. Analyse Terminal projects in terms of SHEQ and other risks and assist with obtaining legislation required approvals.

Maintaining legal compliance at all times is a priority monitored through a comprehensive internal audit assurance matrix.

13.Implement and manage an Incident Reporting system and collate statistical information in order to address the root

causes focusing on preventing reoccurrence.

14. Ensure the preparation and control of the Departmental budgets as well as facilitating the inclusion of funding for

departmental specific SHEQ responsibilities.

15. Tactical planning for the section, which includes setting of direction and goals, and short
- term plan to achieve these

goals.

16. Translate broad policy statements and decisions made by Managers and General Managers into plans and procedures

as applicable, by considering all implications and possibilities. Implement these plans and procedures.

17. Manage personnel by continuous and periodic performance appraisal; coaching; training needs assessment and detailed

training plans. Deal with grievances and enforce disciplinary measures.

18. Resource assessment and control such as budgetary control, annual budget planning and motivation, personnel resource

assessment and motivation, computer hardware and software resource assessment.

19. Management of all external audits and maintaining all ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification and compliance to

SANS 3000-1.
