**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The successful incumbent will be responsible to contribute to BASF’s profitability by achieving production and efficiency targets consistently through ensuring that all polymer intermediates and polymer finished products are manufactured safely, cost effectively, and timeously. The incumbent will be accountable for all housekeeping, environmental transgressions, and effluent management on shift.
Duties will include the following:

- Supervise production staff and enforce BASF's rules and regulations.
- Conduct in-process testing and final QC testing; issue COAs in the absence of the QC Technician.
- Assign and reorganize tasks to meet urgent customer demands.
- Communicate daily with internal teams to meet production targets.
- Foster effective communication and strong working relationships.
- Maintain discipline to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
- Report equipment malfunctions and unsafe conditions to the Production Manager promptly.
- Monitor bulk storage tanks to prevent stockouts.
- Ensure compliance with housekeeping and safety standards as per the OHS Act and EHSQ Policy.
- Conduct safety awareness talks and plant walkabouts.
- Manage the Quality Management System and ensure first-time conformance to specifications.
- Document shift handovers clearly and accurately.
- Efficiently manage inventory to minimize losses.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- Supervisory skills
- NQF level 3 Chemical Operations Learnership or greater
- Minimum 3 years of working experience and understanding of plant production processes, including technical aspects of the products being produced
- Computer literate with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
