**Report To**:Lead Optomechanical AIT Engineer

**Location**: Somerset West, Western Cape, South Africa

**Job Purpose**:
**Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities**:

- Perform incoming inspection of all mechanical components received by comparing measurements to engineering drawings.
- Responsible for completing incoming inspection documentation and ensuring all documentation, data, measurement reports, etc., are received and stored in the correct locations.
- Responsible for performing detailed cleaning of all received mechanical parts for use in the space industry.
- Responsible for assisting with masking, painting and demasking of relevant mechanical components.
- Perform various meticulous part preparation procedures on mechanical and optical components.
- Responsible for completing work instructions, test reports and other production documentation for all tasks performed by the employee.
- Complete detailed production documentation of all measurement and process results.
- Assist engineers with detailed integration of space-borne optical systems.

: Due to the nature and variety of Simera Sense’s projects, additional responsibilities can be added from time to time.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Higher Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Good English communication skills

**Required Experience**:

- Good mechanical knowledge and understanding of technical drawings

**Recommendations**:

- National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Previous experience working in a high-precision mechanical field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with mechanical component inspection and acceptance.

**Special requirement(s)**:

- Valid driver’s license and own transport essential.

**Required Competencies**:

- Have a good mechanical aptitude.
- Be precise and disciplined.
- Display a high level of attention to detail.
- Work well within a team format.
- Be able to execute procedures very accurately while working without supervision.
