The Housekeeping Supervisor has overall responsibility for cleaning facilities, laundering linen, and maintaining furnishings and other equipment in Nazareth House Facilities.

Compliance with hygiene and cleanliness standards is essential in any facility. Facilities that are not cleaned properly are not only aesthetically unappealing, but they also present a potential health and safety hazard to residents and employees alike.

Housekeeping Supervisors manage the individuals who keep the areas in good shape.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is required to
- Supervising cleaning staff, checking that facilities are cleaned to a high standard
- Checking for faults or damage and arranging repairs and routine maintenance work
- Duty Manager Shifts
- Coordinating housekeeping needs with other facility department managers
- Performing cleaning tasks when staff do not show up for work or the team is short
- staffed
- Recognizing areas that need to be cleaned and assigning such sites to specific members of staff
- Inspect the environment within the organizations to ensure it meets the minimum standards for rating the work
- Listen to complaints and ensure that the complaints are addressed efficiently and effectively
- Responsible for ensuring dirty laundry is timeously and appropriately cleaned
- Maintain a good relationship with residents and suppliers of housekeeping items
- Responsible for cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance of the facility
- Pest control management
- Ensure that priority tasks are completed timeously such as cleaning rooms prior to admission of new residents
- Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards
- Recommend changes that could improve service and increase operational efficiency
- Develop and implement housekeeping systems and procedures
- Daily inspection of public areas and employee’s locker rooms
- Coordinating the preventive maintenance schedule of rooms and public areas with the maintenance department
- Assist in Audit requirements

Stock & Equipment
- He/She is to maintain housekeeping equipment in a good working state and to determine the minimum standards of clothing for members of staff
- Housekeeping supervisors are to ensure housekeeping supplies and equipment are always available when they are needed
- Maintain stock of all supplies, i.e., cleaning supplies, linen, and uniform
- Responsible for taking inventory of housekeeping supplies
- Assist in selecting suppliers for items related to Housekeeping
- Monthly stock takes

Human Resources
- Drawing up a shift roster for staff
- Hiring and training new employees
- Conduct meetings with the housekeepers to discuss workflow, allocation and to address any arising matters
- Annual Leave Schedules
- Ensure that each member of the housekeeping team understands the organization’s cleaning procedure, especially new employees
- Monthly Departmental Meetings
- Performance Management
- Motivating, training, and retraining of members of staff
- Addressing complaints of members of staff on situations preventing or inhibiting their utmost performance
- Ensure adequate staffing in the light of the responsibility assigned to their departments, but are also expected to ensure that the payroll of members of staff in their department does not exceed budget
- Effectively manage people and resources to provide a satisfying housekeeping service
- Organize on-the-job training and evaluate its effectiveness
- Daily briefing of Facility Manager

Administration
- Stocktaking and ordering cleaning equipment, linen, and room supplies
- Managing budgets and controlling costs
- Prepare Annual Housekeeping Budget
- Organize inventories for linen, uniform, and fixed assets
- Prepare reports for management information
- Cleaning Checklists
- Service Reports
- COVID Requirements
- Resident Inventory List
- New admission assistance

Health & Safety
- Ensuring staff work to health and safety rules
- Environmental Health Checklists

Occupancy & Room Management
- Manage and/or assist with a resident inventory list
- Manage and/or assist with room directories
- Manage and/or assist with room log
- New admission assistance

- Work experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor may be considered in lieu of appropriate certification
