Highbury Media (Pty) Ltd is an independent magazine and digital publishing company responsible for some of the best-performing titles. We are currently looking for a **Junior Copyeditor.
- Reviewing and revising content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax.
- Communicating and working with editorial and production teams to ensure that content is published in a timely manner.
- Ensuring correct tone, voice, clarity, flow and structure of content.
- Has an incredible eye for detail and spotting errors.
- Excellent at fact-checking.
- Fast proofs, in line with the digital landscape.
- Being flexible is an important and necessary skill.
- Understand which stories need to be reviewed first (i.e. breaking news).
- Digital experience is a bonus, but not essential to apply.
- We’re looking for an experienced member to join our young team, to ensure the upmost quality for our readers, and help upskill junior writers and potential junior copy editors.

**Requirements**:

- Be able to communicate effectively with editors, art directors, designers and reproduction artists
- Be proactive and self-disciplined, and work well in a team
- Be able to work accurately and professionally under deadline pressure
- Have a good general knowledge and be able to handle copy on a wide variety of topics
- Maintain a flexible schedule and understand that this position does not run in accordance with a typical 9-5 job
- Assisting with content creation and editing according to the team schedule, which includes selected weekends, morning or night shifts, and certain holidays
