**Job summary**:

- As part of the _**_Project Technical _**_unit, you will support the timely and effective generation and delivery of emission reductions of _**_Nature Based Solutions (NBS) projects in the African region _**_throughout their lifecycle focusing on adhering to robust internal and external carbon standard certification guidelines. In this role, you will assist the NBS team in the _**_writing _**_of high-quality project description documentation and monitoring reports to ensure the smooth validation and verification of NBS projects in line with the certification standard requirements. You will be able to _**_perform calculations _**_adhering to the standard methodologies formulas and to analyse spatial results. _
- In addition, _**_you will support the commercial team _**_in the technical assessment of any opportunities in order to expand the NBS opportunities in the African Region. As a Specialist for NBS Projects, you have to be able to _**_work in a team of people_**_, in order to reach the required result.**Main tasks & responsibilities**:

- _Support the management of climate mitigation projects and of the carbon cycle project development until the issuance of credits_
- _Support the NBS team in writing certification documents following the existent carbon standards and methodologies (e.g., VERRA, CDM, GS)_
- _Perform carbon credit estimation based on the existent methodologies and analyse data coming from the fields providing quality check_
- _Remain up to date on the guidelines and requirements of major carbon standards and maintain internal tools to support the sharing of such knowledge _with colleagues and partners globally_
- _Conduct site visits and other types of trips/training whenever needed_

**Requirements**:
Essential
- _ University degree in forestry engineering, agriculture, environmental science, natural resource management, ecology or any other related field _
- _Less than _**_3 years _**_of work experience related to project development and monitoring preferably in Forestry, Climate Change Mitigation/Adaptation or related fields in the African context_
- _Ability to create high-quality written documents (PDD and MR) in English_ _Strong calculation capacity and mathematical skills_
- E_xperience in _**_GIS analysis _**_in the natural resource sector, particularly Land-Use and Land-Cover Change (LUCC) analysis, and in the field of natural resources management in the varied African ecosystems_
- _Excellent oral and written skills in English_
- _Willingness to travel_

Desirable
- _ Ability to work within an interdisciplinary, global team (Junior to mid-level project coordinators) including internal and/or external collaborators sitting in different countries _
- _ _Knowledge of one of the other major African languages such as French, Kiswahili, Portuguese, etc. will be considered a plus._
