Coatings & Cement Applications Chemist needed, for a company specialising in the Coatings/Construction Sector, ideally with Analytical Testing and Product Development experience.

The role demands in-depth knowledge of paint testing methods, to be actively involved in daily laboratory workflows, supporting equipment, and systems. The company is transitioning into a new phase. This pivotal role aims to advance the product portfolio, ensuring exceptional quality, performance, and market competitiveness.

: Flexibility and collaboration within the laboratory team will be essential for successful progress. Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and supporting other departmental tasks when necessary are part of the job context. Your core responsibilities will involve a number of specific tasks: these include detailed analysis, formulation innovation, and meticulous evaluation of products.

Responsibilities encompass a wide spectrum of technical and managerial duties including:
Ensuring compliance with statutory standards.

Conducting instrument calibrations and adhering to ISO 17025 laboratory standards.

Testing formulations in accordance with industry standards (ISO 2813 Paint Standards, BS EN 1015 for mortar).

Quality Control & Management: Spearheading limited yet foundational laboratory quality processes, conducting random sampling and periodic quality checks.

Developing and modifying formulations for improved performance and cost-efficiency.

Regular preparation and testing of formulations as per project plans for new and existing products.

Implementing (product) process improvements for routine laboratory testing.

Innovative Product Development: Pioneering new offerings, demonstrating the company’s innovative capabilities, achieved through disciplined academic approaches and supplier collaborations.

Continuous Product Improvement: Consistently refining formulations, conducting thorough evaluations of supplier raw materials, and optimizing cost-performance ratios for sustained enhancement.

Efficient project management, creating detailed plans and effective communication strategies.

Developing a comprehensive formulation database and evaluating supplier raw materials.

Creating technical datasheets, delivering product demonstrations, and maintaining a meticulous laboratory environment.

Providing personalized customer support, addressing technical inquiries, conducting tests, and tailoring product solutions to meet specific customer needs, emphasizing tailored and effective solutions

**Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:
BSc Chemistry or Diploma in Analytical Chemistry (Minimum NQF 6, NQF 7 Preferred).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, scientific and mathematical abilities, and problem-solving skills.

Enthusiasm for learning and initiative-taking in establishing R&D capabilities.

Meticulous project management.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Ability to handle heavy material samples (up to 20Kg).

Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.

Must be fully able to execute work independently with little management.
