- Job Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceGraduate qualification in transformation related fields such as Gender Studies; Social Sciences and Humanities, Development Studies
3 - 5 years in managing a transformation-related field.
- Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities**1. Gender equality and diversity coordination**
- Assist with the development and implementation of equality, diversity and inclusion strategies, policies and processes
- Support the development of action plans in support of the implementation of the strategic outcomes.
- Coordinate gender equality, diversity and inclusivity to enhance gender transformation in line with legislative and policy directives of higher education.
- Support initiatives that are aimed at encouraging access, retention and support with regard to gender equality, diversity and inclusivity
- Advise and support efforts and initiatives that are aimed at promoting awareness and advocacy on gender equality, diversity and inclusivity
- Facilitate sessions to ensure that faculties, units and departments understand the principles of gender equality, diversity and inclusion and that they are embedded in every aspect of their work
- Advise and support the review on integrating gender equality, diversity and inclusivity in all policies and programme of work for students and staff.
- Work in partnership with the HC team to develop, implement, monitor and review processes and procedures including recruitment, learning and development, management information provision, monitoring and reporting to ensure that gender equality, diversity and inclusivity are mainstreamed across the work of the university
- Create, build and sustain effective external working relationships and networks with key partners to enhance gender equality, diversity and inclusivity to broaden networks and partnerships
- Ensure that gender equality, diversity and inclusivity are mainstreamed in faculty, units and department’s transformation plans
**2. Integration of gender transformation in areas of social inclusion policy**
- Facilitate faculties’, units’ and departments’ integration of gender transformation in social inclusion areas such as race, sexual orientation, disability, language and other related intolerances in line with the policy on the Realisation of Social Inclusion in higher education.
- Communicates updates and information to faculties, units and departments on gender equality, diversity and inclusivity to support the growth and sustainability of gender transformation
- Build and maintain strong inter-departmental/faculty relationships to enhance the multi-disciplinary approach to gender transformation.
**3. Faculty and departmental consultation**
- Advise faculties, units and departments with matters related to discrimination and human rights violation with regard to gender equality, diversity and inclusivity;
- Advise faculties, units and departments in dealing with sensitive, offensive and confidential matters regarding gender equality, diversity and inclusivity to ensure an institutional environment that is fair, transparent, responsive in line with relevant legislation and policies
- Highlight areas of concern with regard to gender equality, diversity and Inclusivity and also generate effective solutions which incorporate good practice and support operational priorities.
- Analyse the impact and risks associated with gender equality, diversity and inclusivity and propose for future action plans to be implemented
**4. Institutional climate of understanding and tolerance of linguistic, cultural and religious practices, beliefs and ways of leaving with regard to gender equality and inclusivity**
- Advice and support tolerance of linguistic, cultural and religious diversity with regard to gender equality, diversity and inclusivity.
- Coordinate and support training and capacity building to support tolerance of linguistic, cultural and religious diversity on gender equality, diversity and inclusivity.
- Coordinate and support advocacy programmes to promote the tolerance of linguistic, cultural and religious diversity with regard to gender equality, diversity and inclusivity.
**5. Financial and resource management**
- Provision of budget inputs for inclusion into Institutional Transformation Plans.
