**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Manage compliance to corporate direct and indirect tax legislation in order to ensure that there is accurate

tax reporting, risks and opportunities are identified and appropriately addressed.
- Manage compliance to customs legislation relating to bonded warehouse storage.

**_ Position outputs:_**

Customs compliance
- Assist and advise Transnet Pipelines (TPL) regarding customs matters related to bonded warehouse storage

such that the best possible advice and options are provided.
- Research, develop and implement customs planning strategies for new business initiatives and contribute to the

development of the overall tax strategy for TPL
- Assist TPL to interpret and integrate customs considerations into the business strategy.
- Develop and implement customs planning opportunities and risk mitigation strategies
- Coordinate and facilitate customs audits and enquiries from the South African Revenue Services (SARS).
- Interpret new customs legislation and implement changes
- Formulate and update customs procedures to ensure alignment with Transnet strategy and customs requirements.
- Ensure statutory requirements are adhered to prevent SARS penalties
- Submit reports/returns as per the submission dates to SARS to ensure TPLcomplies with statutory requirements.
- Direct and indirect Tax
- Manage the provision of accurate month-end and year-end consolidated financial reporting of current and
- deferred taxation for Transnet Pipelines and oversee all tax matters audited by Transnet Internal and External auditors.
- Review the Transnet Pipelines income tax return submissions in respect of the Transnet SOC Limited annual income tax

return (IT14).
- Review the Transnet Pipelines VAT return submission in respect of the Transnet SOC Limited monthly VAT return

(VAT201).
- Serve as the liaison between Transnet Group Taxation and Transnet Pipelines including overall responsibility

for implementing Transnet Tax Policies and procedures at a divisional level.
- Member of the Transnet Tax Forum which is responsible for assisting in the formulation of the Transnet Tax strategy and

identification of tax risks.
- Engagement with stakeholders on all Transnet Pipelines specific tax matters.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the tax related control frameworks at Transnet Pipelines.
- Team Management
- Lead and manage subordinates so that they meet the objectives of their roles and obtain the
- necessary guidance and development, also ensure that new staff are recruited as required.

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- B Com Honours/ Post Graduate Diploma with Tax as a major
- Five (5) to Eight (8) years of experience in tax and customs, 2 years at a managerial level
- Additional Job Requirements:
- Driver’s license code 08
- Travel as required and approved
- Requirement of Trust and Honesty in the handling of Finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19

**_ Competencies:_**
- Excellent Knowledge on taxation (Income tax, employee tax and VAT);
- Sound knowledge of internal control implementation and enhancement;
- Able to prepare and interpret tax reporting for a medium size organisation and able to provide technical tax advice;
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and corporate governance frameworks such as Companies Act, Income Tax Act, PFMA,

Customs and Excise, etc.
