**POSITION**: Public Relations Intern - DURBANVILLE

**PERIOD**: 6 Months

**REPORTS TO**: Direct of Operations
Objective
Under the direction of the Director of Operations and within the limits of our clients policies and procedures, the PR Intern will form part of the Digital Department
In this role, you will be working closely with the Digital Manager and assisting with the writing of media releases, scheduling PR events, conducting research, and much more. You will also be working closely with staff from other departments to determine the PR needs of both the company and its clients.
To be a successful you must be a confident public speaker and have basic skills in copywriting and social media marketing. You should be able to build relationships with the media and suppliers, while constantly looking for innovative ways and opportunities to achieve media awareness.
Main Responsibilities
Supporting the Digital Manager in implementing PR strategies for clients.
Creating engaging content for media releases, social media platforms, and newsletters.
Assisting the digital department as a whole in maintaining client social media pages.
Building relationships with clients and potential clients, suppliers, and the media.
Providing assistance to the Digital Manager with the scheduling and organizing of events.
Giving input on marketing initiatives and suggesting creative ways to improve the public image of clients and the company.
Conducting research on marketing initiatives and the latest trends.
Monitoring of media coverage on events and media releases that were issued and creating press clippings.
Updating media lists.
Performing administrative duties.

**Requirements**:
Enrolment in a BA or BSc degree in public relations, communication, or journalism.
Excellent understanding of various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
Efficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Basic budget management skills to track spending on sponsorships, events, and marketing material.
Comfortable with public speaking and engaging with customers.
Good research and analytical skills.
The ability to prioritize your workload and keep to strict content deadlines.
Willingness to attend corporate events after hours and on weekends.
Knowledge of copywriting and editing.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

**Creating a positive relationship with colleagues**: They are part of the internal approach NOT to work in silos but one company bringing the departments as one. Therefore, their interaction with Management and Employees are an example and needs to be a positive influence.
Maintain a professional and positive attitude in all dealings with clients either on the phone or in person.
Complying with all vaccination requirements that may be applicable to the destination. Please note, the Company may request for you to pay any excess towards travel such as Travel insurance due to the employee not being vaccinated.
