PURPOSE

***To **run the allocated jobs on the Tile Line**, to **produce product** according to the **shift production plan**, in line with the agreed **quality standards** and **product specifications** during an allocated shift to ensure that Belgotex Customer Service, Volume and operational efficiencies are realized through efficient production, adherence to plan and high-quality output of manufactured product.

SPAN OF CONTROL

This role is responsible for producing Tile Line product on the allocated machines during the shift.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & OUTPUTS

***Production Management - Deep Focus

**Run Tile Line **to produce product to achieve the shift production plan (volumes across all the machines) ensuring **product specifications** and **quality standards** are adhered to. This including:
Unroll Station:

- To ensure that the rolls are loaded correctly on the table as per the CAMS system and in the direction and position required for tracking.
- To ensure the correct roll is marked of on the system as per the production plan to make box labels (given to box maker).
- To remove all staples from the roll, punch, sew and unroll rolls onto the conveyor for continuous flow of production.
- Enter roll numbers into production book and measure roll width.

Press Operation, Stripping and Tile Checking:

- Ensure that the carpet is tracking correctly, and tracking wheels and device are set correctly giving an equal edge waste at the press.
- Responsible for checking that the cutting belt is tracking correctly from side to side.
- Responsible for checking that the product is running straight and giving the correct web waste.
- Once the first mode is complete, the cycle starts again, and a new measured length of carpet is feed into the Press.
- Ensure that temperature setting at the control panel is correct and according to specification. Regular checks on weight, height and temperature on must be performed on the product.
- Responsible for performing visual checks on the tiles and ensure that the directional arrows on the carpets are accurately placed. Changes must be communicated to the Pan Operator.
- Look out for faults on the tiles and remove the non-conforming tiles from press operation to stripping area where they are rechecked and rectified if possible.
- Non-conforming tiles that that are rejected must be packed as Lucky dips and palleted.
- All waste generated must be placed in specific waste containers.

Box Maker
- Make up the bases for the job required. (Different size lids used, and they come already prepared).
- Stapling the box corners using brass staples, and a foot operated stapling Machine.
- Ensure that the bases are made correctly and can fit into each other neatly.
- Move the finished boxes to the Checking, Strapping and Pallet wrapping section.

Strapping and Pallet Wrapping
- Stick a box label on the lid as per the Cams system.
- Put the completed box through the strapping machine to be strapped and moved to a pallet located on a pallet wrap machine.
- Ensure boxes are packed per pallet and that all box labels are facing outward for easy reference.
- Wrap the pallet once it is full and ensure it is ready for dispatch.
- Constantly monitor and correct the **Grade 2, off quality and other waste** levels produced during the shift and take corrective action to decrease the levels. Be able to answer to and account for any Tile Line faults that go through to the backing plant.
- Perform product change when required.
- Monitor production **OEE** within targeted parameters, document any downtime on the machines and take corrective action to ensure that machines **downtime** is minimized.
- Work with the Shift Supervisor to keep them informed of any maintenance and repair issues that may impact downtime now or in the future this includes:

- Defects in the air lines
- Electrical issues
- Mechanical issues

Set - Set up and conduct change overs.
- Work within the company and departments rules and regulations

Production Metrics
- Track all production made during the shift against the production plan and be able to supply the Shift Supervisor with an update.
- Track Grade 2, off quality and other waste levels during shift production to look for trends and work with the Shift Supervisor to find long term solutions.

Stakeholder relationships
- Attend daily shift team briefings and relay critical information to the Shift Supervisor to be constantly updated of issues requiring attention.
- Constantly update the shift supervisor on quality standards and product specific issues during the shift
- Work with the other shift operators to implement solutions to quality defects or product specification issues detected.

Reporting and Documentation
- Ensure that all processes, recipes, and production specifications are **documented** into required SOP and process flow formats and stored centrally as per agreed document management system.
