**Job Description**:
- You will be responsible for carrying out various duties necessary for the efficient maintenance and operation of the deck department onboard the vessel.
Your role will:
- Performing helmsman or lookout duties.
- Performing mooring and berthing duties as directed.
- Performing flight deck duties when helicopter operations are conducted and stands by with fire-fighting and ancillary equipment for possible emergencies.
- Preparing and launching lifeboats / rescue boats by using davits, derricks or cranes as directed.
- Operating cranes and derricks for the loading and discharging of stores and equipment.
- Assisting in the rigging of machinery.
- Adheres to Company policies and procedures relating to health, safety, security and environmental issues.
- Operates cranes and derricks for loading & discharging of stores/spares.
**Qualifications
- Formal qualifications**:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- SAMSA Competency Certificate STCW 2010 Able Seafarer Deck [AB]
**Additional requirements**:
- Legal or Operational Compliance
- Maintenance Skills
- Mobile equipment operating skills
**Role-specific knowledge**:
- Sea going experience on deck of a vessel
