We are hiring immediately for a Controls Technician - a role that is critical in making sure our customers get the electricity, heating and cooling they need.

Installation, configuration, and commissioning of the site controls network & associated controls hardware as per design documentation and drawings.

What you’ll do:
Hardware:

- Installation of control panels, junction boxes, marshalling panels, SCADA & PLC panels.
- Installation and termination of controls network cabling including site scada ethernet cables, fibre optic cables, patch cords, serial cables etc.
- Installation and control wiring of device instrumentation, genset controllers, comms and protocol converters, and other site instrumentation such as valve actuators, level, temperature, pressure sensors and transmitters.
- Installation of telemetry-based devices.
- Setup and configuration of SCADA station, servers, etc.

Software & Networks:

- Configuration of PLCs (Omron, Siemens, Schneider, Codesys etc)
- Interface and configuration of gas, diesel, HFO generator asset controllers (Deif, Deepsea etc)
- Comms configuration for LV / HV / EHV transformer & switchgear relay & intelligent devices
- Configuration of LFO and HFO fuel ancillary and control equipment
- Instrumentation configuration of level & pressure transmitters, motorized valve actuators.
- Configuration of communications protocol gateways & converters (Modbus TCP - Serial, CANbus, Profinet, Profibus, IEC61850, DNP3, BACnet).
- Configuration of RTU comms gateway devices.
- Configuration of fuel & electrical energy instrumentation such as mass flow meters, fuel quality meters.
- Computer and control network device configuration in LAN, WLAN, VLAN systems and firewall configuration.
- Configuration of cellular and broadband based network routers & switches, and telemetry units
- Configuration of managed network switches connected in ring / star topology.
- Troubleshooting and fault-finding control networks and devices.
- Documentation & Communication:

- Carry out controls training for onsite operator staff and personnel.
- SCADA / PLC commissioning documentation.
- Produce standard work instruction.
- Report writing.
- Customer facing and interaction.

Liaising and dealing with various controls systems integrators and onsite subcontractors

We’re experts, which means you’ll have the following skills and experience:

- Minimum 3 years field experience & onsite work environment.
- Industrial electrical & controls background within power generation, energy, mining sectors
- Ability to read single line, electrical, instrumentation wiring diagrams and drawings.
- Computer LAN and ethernet based systems.
- Experience with industrial controls protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, Profibus, IEC61850, DNP3 etc.
- Computer literate.
- Proficient with the Windows OS.
- Good organization and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred,
- Experience in generator control
- Solar and battery energy storage systems.
- Software coding & programming experience in C++, Python, SQL, VBA etc.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years Electrical / Electronic Engineering with high focus on control system design and process instrumentation and SCADA/PLC programing. Experience in power system will be a good advantage.
- National Diploma with 4 years Electrical / Electronic Engineering with high focus on control system design and process instrumentation and SCADA/PLC programing. Experience in power system will be a good advantage.
