Occupational Technician

**Description**
- **Occupational health care**_
- Examine credentials, licenses, or permits to ensure compliance with licensing requirements.
- Verify that safety equipment such as hearing protection and respirators is available to employees, and monitor their use of such equipment to ensure proper fit and use.
- Prepare documents to be used in legal proceedings, testifying in such proceedings when necessary.
- **Occupational Health Screening Procedures**_
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
- To perform and interpret the screening test results
- Performance of spirometry, audiometry, vision screening and highlighting significant abnormalities to the Occupational Medical Practitioner
- Review records and reports concerning laboratory results, staffing, floor plans, fire inspections, and sanitation in order to gather information for the development and enforcement of safety activities.
- **Administrative Knowledge**_
- Maintain all required records and documentation.
- Maintain logbooks of daily activities, including areas visited and activities performed.
- Prepare and review specifications and orders for the purchase of safety equipment, ensuring that proper features are present and that items conform to health and safety standards.
- Standby duties.
- **Health and Safety**_
- Test workplaces for environmental hazards such as exposure to radiation, chemical and hazards, and excessive noise.
- Plan emergency response drills.
- Supply, operate, and maintain personal protective equipment.
- Prepare and calibrate equipment used to collect and analyze samples.
- **Customer Service Orientation**_
- To provide a prompt, efficient and personalized service to clients

**Minimum Required Qualifications**
- Grade 12
- Have the ability to communicate with customers/patients in English (other languages advantageous).
- Code 10 Drivers License will be advantage.
- **Vision, Audio and Spiro** qualifications will be advantage.

**Salary**: R5,500.00 - R8,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Brackenfell, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
