**Key Performance Areas**:
Develop and Implement plant Environmental policies and procedures
Monitor compliance to the environmental legislation (Air, Water, Land, Waste and National Environmental Management Act).
Maintain a program to conduct Environmental Aspect /Impacts and Risk assessment covering all existing activities of the plant.
Implement a procedure to review and prioritise the Environmental Aspects and Impacts analysis.
Maintain an accurate system for Environmental Hazardous & Chemical Management on the plant.
Monitor the Environmental Control Measures on a regular basis.
Implement the critical environmental equipment maintenance plan for the plant, with the associated chemical management and controls.
Update inventory of all air related substances and the respective measurements done by frequency as defined by the authorities.
Implement all identified Effluent Management mandatory control requirements for the plant.
Check that operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are available to operators and are customised to include Effluent Management.
Implement Environmental By-Products Management operational controls, including legal compliance and the associated KPIs.
Maintain the Environmental Soil, Groundwater, and Water resource Management System for the plant.
Maintain the Environmental Incident Accident Emergency and Alert system.
Implement the Environmental Monitoring (Audits and compliance) system.
Check there is an Energy and Fluids ownership structure on site with cascaded KPIs.
Implement the Environmental and Safety Management of Change (MOC) process on the plant.
Implement the Environmental Contractor Management system at the plant.
Track that all employees are aware and trained on the Environmental Policy.
Implement an Environmental Committee composed of the relevant stakeholders and separate this from the Safety Committee.
Implement the Environmental Management Review system.
Monitor compliance to audits and closure of corrective actions.
Adhere to and perform administrative tasks according to the processes and procedures appropriate to the department/section.
Conduct water sampling when required.
Check that weekly environmental audits are carried out by each department.
Take part in relevant environmental investigations, where required, and inform the necessary authorities.
**Reporting & Record Keeping**
Provide information as appropriate for reports specific to area of responsibility as required by superior.
Complete, consolidate and submit standard documents and reports for review.
File, archive and retrieve documents in hard and soft copy filing system.
Maintain and update records and systems as required.
Stakeholder Relations
Communicate with all relevant departments on issues of the area of specialty.
Communicate with internal and/or external stakeholders, where required, to achieve work objectives and to maintain relationships.
SHERQ and Risk Management
Adhere to Health and Safety measures e.g., wearing safety and protective equipment.
Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations.

**Qualifications & Experience**:
NQF 6 Qualification in Environmental Science/Management
Expert knowledge of relevant ISO standards will be advantageous
3+ years experience in environmental management in FMCG/Manufacturing environment or similar industry
People Management experience and strong leadership skills essential
Lean manufacturing experience essential
