Our Environment and Sustainability team provides our clients with expertise in climate change, environmental assessment & management, noise & vibration, social impact management, sustainable development design, and water resources. Job Profile Summary

Hatch is looking for a passionate and motivated Senior Environmental Consultant to join our rapidly growing Environment and Sustainability Team in South Africa. The role is an exciting opportunity to help deliver a range of critical capital projects across Africa for our global clients.

Subject to meeting the above requirements, preference may be given to applicants with experience in projects in the oil & gas, mining, large-scale infrastructure, renewable energy and marine ports.

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Environmental Consultant within the team, you will be responsible for:

- Delivering or coordinating projects or whole elements of larger multidisciplinary or global projects - as Hatch works closely with large organisation, we anticipate that this role will require close collaboration with our regional and global Environment and Sustainability teams.
- Delivering multiple project tasks or components, including support on proposals.
- Understanding the inter-relationships between Hatch services and policies and how these are applied within the clients' business model.
- Developing and establishing strong working relationships with new and existing clients.
- Contributing to our key local, regional and global clients and supporting the solutions Hatch delivers for ESG and related risks.
- Making use of effective working relationships within the business practice and participate in global technical communities to ensure strong network of resources.
- Remaining up to date with external market and client industry trends.
- Sharing expertise and knowledge within the business unit and/ or global practice area.
- Understanding how the work of the Environment and Sustainability team contributes to Hatch’s international success.
- Adhering to all Hatch and client requirements, specifically those related to H&S and governance.
- Supervising subcontractors during fieldwork, ensuring they comply with Hatch’s Health & Safety policies, and work is completed in line with project scope.

Applicant Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: Honours /Master's will be beneficial in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in an environmental impact assessment related field.
- EAPASA registration (or registration status).
- SACNASP registration.
- Track record of successful delivery to clients.
- Track record in selling and delivering consulting services to senior client representatives.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- High proficiency with standard industry software tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office suite).

Physical and mental requirements include:

- Ability to communicate frequently with clients and co-workers and share information effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively in both office based and remote environments.
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills - both quantitative and qualitative.
- Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects simultaneously (sometimes under pressured conditions).
- Self-motivation with an ability to work independently.
- Proficiency at planning, directing, and coordinating the work activity of others.
- Frequent travel by airplane or car as necessary to perform work at other locations.
