Our client is looking a for a Financial Operations Controller is an advanced level role in the Management Accountants job family. They operate at a national level in medium to advanced complexity environments.

Oversee the Monthly accounting function for the Application Solutions business for the company

The Financial Controller will be responsible for month-end closure and monthly accounting for the biggest Business Units in the Application Solutions Business. This activity will include the processing and analysis of the accounting entries for the different business units or profit and cost centres that make up the Application Solutions Business.

As part of the month end process, the Financial Controller will review revenue and costs per business unit and category against forecast and investigate variations to the forecast. Analyse variances and raise the necessary accounting entries to correct errors as listed below, although not limited
- Process the necessary cost and revenue accruals
- Process the necessary cost and revenue deferrals

Because the Applications Business runs many projects in SAP, revenue recognition will be a function of the actual cost’s vs the planned costs and the planned revenue of the project as per IFRS 15. Therefore, the accountant will be responsible to run the Results Analysis (RA) to make sure revenue is correctly recognised on all Projects within a Business Unit of the Applications business.

For annuity services, Applications Business runs contracts in SAP, which recognise revenue over the period of the contract as per IFRS 15. Therefore, the accountant will be responsible to run the Results Analysis (RA) to make sure revenue is correctly recognised on all contracts per Business Unit for the Application business.

**Financial analysis and reporting**

The Financial Controller will be responsible for various reporting to facilitate the review of the performance of the various business units (profit and cost centres) that forms the Application Solutions Business. The reporting will include the variance analysis of actuals and forecast vs budget.

**Balance Sheet Recons**

The Financial Controller will be responsible for the balance sheet reconciliations for all the balance sheet general ledger accounts for the Applications Solutions business.

**Working Capital Management**

The Financial Controller will be responsible for management of working capital as it pertains to the Application Solutions business.

**Internal and external audit**

The Financial Controller will be responsible to assist with the Internal and External audits for the Business Units that makes up the Application Solutions business.

**Commission reviews**

The Financial Controller will be responsible to assist with the review and approve the commission calculations for Application Solutions.

**Behavioural skills**

The Financial Controller need to be a process driven individual who is commercially astute, display good attention to detail, be able to work independently and produce work of high quality. The financial controller needs to be an assertive individual who display good negotiation and problem-solving ability. He or she need to have good verbal and written communication skills and can work effectively in a team environment.

**Required Work Experience**:

- 5+ years’ working experience
- B Comm or similar qualification

**Reporting Responsibilities**

The Financial Operations Controller will report to the Financial Manager for Application Solutions, In the role, the Financial Operations Controller also work closely with the Finance Business Partner responsible for the Application Solutions Business.
