RESPONSIBILITIES

The School of Public Management and Administration is looking for highly qualified individuals with an international reputation to strengthen its teaching and research profile. Preferred areas of teaching and research specialisation include: Public Administration
- Lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
- Supervision of postgraduate students;
- Scientific research and publication in the field of Public Administration;
- Participation in departmental and faculty committee responsibilities;
- Liaison with students, parents and other stakeholders; and
- Management of academic departmental events and supervision of tutors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A Doctorate in Public Administration;
- At least one publication in an accredited journal or peer-reviewed journals;
- Experience in the supervision of postgraduate students/industry experience; and
- Lecturing experience at a tertiary level.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

- The ability to independently plan and initiate discipline-related and multi-disciplinary research programmes;
- Involvement in professional activities where applicable;
- Appropriate language proficiency and communication skills; and
- Computer literacy.

ADDED ADVANATAGES
- Evidence of the potential to develop and implement a sustained research portfolio that can, in future, receive national and international recognition, e.g. publications already in print or manuscripts forthcoming;
- Evidence of the ability to complete research, supervise research and lead research lead research seminars in their field of expertise.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and Umvuzo medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
