**Radio Hindvani, **is seeking to fill their **Station Manager **vacancy, to lead the team in achieving its mandate to promote the development and propagation of the Hindi language and Hindu culture.

**About Hindvani**

Radio Hindvani aspires to be the largest community radio station for everyone that loves Hindi in South Africa and, globally. It was established by the Hindi Shiksha Sangh, South Africa in 1998 as a part of its 50th anniversary celebrations. After a number 30 day license tranches, it was finally awarded a long term license in 2002.

The specific mandate of the Sangh and Hindvani is to promote the development and propagation of the Hindi language and Hindu culture.

Popularly known as “Voice of Hindi” in South Africa, the station aims to add value to its constituents by providing a professionally managed radio station that provides high quality programming to our discerning listeners. The programming includes talk shows, news, entertainment, youth interest content, live broadcasts and Hindi content.

**Job specification**

To provide strategic direction, guidance and management to the station in a cost-effective and efficient manner, to the satisfaction of all stakeholders, in compliance with the license conditions of Hindvani and the Hindi Shiksha Sangh mandate, in order to maximise audience and revenue opportunities.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Accountable for the overall station success; and managing the station strategically and operationally in line with the Hindi Shiksha Sangh mandate for Hindvani.
- Develop, formulate and implement business plan, in order to deliver on business objectives.
- Identify and deliver to a target audience aligned to station strategy and mandate.
- Ensure development, management and implementation of a programme strategy aligned with target audience and mandate needs and requirements, in order to grow target audience and exploit opportunities to generate revenue.
- Ensure high quality programme content.
- Develop and implement marketing strategy, in order to optimise brand awareness.
- Maintain close liaisons with Sales & Marketing, in order to define stations revenue needs and requirements.
- Support Sales & Marketing sales in identification of revenue opportunities.
- Identify and exploit alternative revenue streams.
- Ensure efficient and effective business process and functioning of the station.
- Ensure continual monitoring and managing of station performance in terms of mandate in delivering on target audience.
- Ensure compliance to corporate governance and adherence to code of conduct policies, procedures and mandate.
- Ensure optimal integration of functions and strategies, in order to achieve objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities, and provide guidance and motivation of station towards new directions and developments.
- Compile and manage the cost-effective utilisation of station budget.
- Cost-effective management of facilities and operations.
- Ensure station stays abreast of developments, in order to maintain competitiveness and innovation.
- Evaluate all business plans in the context of station requirements and potential profitability analysis.
- Build a capable station team in the form of skilled people in all areas and with sound business process and work flow in place.
- Identification of, and ensure optimal utilisation of research, in order to ensure informed decision making.
- Direct, performance manage, develop and motivate the station team.
- Ensure quality technology and facility advisory support, in order to continually improve efficiencies, effectiveness and quality of radio processes.
- Source; identify & purchase suitable software solutions/ equipment/ IT infrastructure to ensure continual optimal broadcast quality of the station.
- Provide continual feedback and information to Radio Management Committee & Executive Committee of the Hindi Shiksha Sangh and station team regarding operational and strategic status of the station.
- Liaise with external and internal stakeholders, in order to ensure optimal delivery on station community mandate requirements.
- Keep abreast of station license conditions and ICASA legislation.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate the team to do their best to achieve the mandate of the station.
- Technical knowledge and skills in using broadcasting software, hardware and related equipment.
- Technical ability in maintaining and upgrading broadcasting equipment in line with developing industry trends.
- Software: Familiarity with and implementation Broadcast software elements, preferably Genesys and Powergold. Training of volunteers to effectively use software.
- Tech savvy: Manage the digitization migration of the station - seamless permutation of social media, web-page and other virtual platforms.
