Reporting to: HOD: Learning, Teaching and Assessment
**Requirements**:
- Minimum requirement is a relevant Master’s degree (preferably specialising in Education Management/leadership), preferably a Doctorate.
- At least 7 years’ experience/development in the relevant field which would include at least 5 years’ experience in a Higher Education management role.
- Experience in managing a range of stakeholders.
- 7-10 years’ experience teaching/facilitation at tertiary level (in-person and online), preferred.
**Competencies**:
- Sound knowledge of curriculum/programme design and development models within the context of SAQA regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of student-centred pedagogical methods.
- A sound knowledge of the Blackboard or Moodle learning management systems.
- Excellent ability to guide teaching staff with timely, accurate and constructive input, feedback and development that promotes overall progress.
- Excellent change management skills in a constantly changing higher education environment.
- Computer literate with a thorough understanding of shared workspaces
- Preference will be given to Google Workspace, GSuite, Excel, Microsoft Office
**Duties**:
**Educational Leadership**
- Efficient organisation and management of teaching across the institution.
- Mentorship and orientation of new teaching staff (Lecturers/Tutors).
- Coordination among and liaison with Campus Academic Heads, Programme Coordinators and Academic Support.
- Keep updated with new educational innovations and technologies.
- Ensure that teaching staff have effective student centred pedagogical skills.
- Support and foster innovative and quality pedagogy.
- Work towards bridging research and teaching.
- Contribute to the Learning and Teaching Model, Strategy and Policy in line with the Vision and Mission.
- Build and promote an active community of best academic practice in teaching methods in a hybrid/blended teaching environment.
- Keep abreast of SAQA and CHE requirements with regards to curriculum development and teaching models.
- Contribute towards ensuring that all academic staff (lecturers and tutors) update their knowledge and keep abreast of developments in their respective discipline through active participation in skills development on the Academic Community, 1st Tuesdays, seminars, workshops, conferences and research.
- Encourage teaching which takes into account a diverse student population.
- Engage with national and international higher education communities to share best practice in quality learning and teaching
**Performance Management**:
- Manage direct reports including Campus Academic Heads and other selected staff in the Learning, Teaching and Assessment department.
- Accountable for compliance with the policies and procedures of the IMM Graduate School.
- Coordinate and ensure equivalent teaching quality across campuses and Student Support Centres.
- Responsible for the measurement of the effectiveness of teaching in a HyFlex teaching environment.
- Develop appropriate instruments to ensure that all teaching staff are appraised (Develop and coordinate performance measures), by peers, students and SMEs etc. every semester.
- Identify skills gaps in teaching across all centres.
- Develop and implement a Skills Development Plan for teaching staff.
- Schedule in-service training for teaching staff.
- Develop a reward system for excellence in teaching
**Administration Management**:
- Maintain and update all records pertaining to teaching activities.
- Ensure that all teaching documentation required for the smooth operation of academic activities are available and used efficiently.
- Ensure learning resources are timeously available to the eLearn members of staff.
- Submit any reports as may be required by the Faculty.
- Chair regular meetings with relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute towards Academic Board reports.
**Communication and Relationship Management**:
- Ensure that constructive working relationships are formed between academic staff at all levels.
- Support Campus Academic Heads in the orientation of new teaching staff by providing relevant resources.
- Provide feedback to the HOD: Learning, Teaching and Assessment on the performance management of academic staff.
- Provide quarterly reports to the HOD: Learning, Teaching and Assessment on key responsibility areas.
**Lecturing/Research**:
Lecture, assess and mark on one undergraduate module per semester OR present one conference paper or publish one journal article per year
