Vantage is seeking an Sr. Advisor Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) r to join our Johannesburg (JNB) operations. At JNB, we currently have operational data centers and construction of new facilities. The Sr. EHS Advisor will work with the regional / global EHS team and local data center operations team to develop and implement a world-class environmental, health and safety system to maintain the highest EHS standards that meets customer and Vantage requirements.

JNB Operations Sr. EHS Advisor Responsibilities:
In your position as Operations Sr. Advisor EHS, your duties include but not limited to:

- EHS Plans: Develop EHS plans in consultation with the operations team. Communicate the plan with all stakeholders and monitor compliance. Regularly update and maintain all the EHS plans.
- Risk Assessment: Facilitate and lead the development of operations generic risk assessments for the facility in consultation with operations team.
- Identify potential hazards in the workplace, providing recommendations for preventative measures
- Risk Assessment Review Assist / review the development of equipment / task specific RAs. Review and comment all RAMS for EHS aspects.
- EHS Trainings: Identify, develop, and deliver internal EHS trainings where needed. Identify external training provider and liaise to arrange for the trainings. Update and maintain EHS training register for the facility.
- Arrange occupational medicals for all relevant employees, ensuring that certificates of fitness are kept up to date and shared with HR, and that medical service providers’ recommendations are followed
- Develop emergency response plans and procedures in conjunction with GMR2.1
- Audits and Inspections: Carry out general weekly inspection of each facility. Carry out quarterly audits of each facility and follow up on actions close out.
- Enforcement Agency / Customer Relations: Represent VDC at EHS enforcement agency visits and meetings. Participate in customer EHS audits and meetings. Follow up on actions.
- EHS Data Collection & Update: Collect monthly EHS data and update the tracker. Complete monthly customer EHS slide for MBR.
- EHS Programs: Take lead on all EHS programs within the facility like organizing and leading safety weeks, events, DSE assessments, Occ. Hygiene assessments etc.
- Meetings & Inductions: Set up and lead safety committee meetings for each facility, develop and distribute minutes of meeting.
- Set up EHS induction program, keep the information up to date.
- Incident Investigations: Ensure EHS incidents are reported in EHS platforms in time. Lead investigation and identifying root cause and actions. Follow up on action close out and develop after action reports (AAR) for EHS incidents.
- Collaborate with Construction and Operational teams to ensure Vantage contractors are adhering to their contractual safety requirements.
- Support the implementation and communication of the EHS management system for the operational facilities.
- Work with facility management and employees to continually improve Vantage’s EHS program in Johannesburg for existing and new facilities.
- Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the EHS program in the region and develop a strategy to address them.
- Maintain a strong, visible presence at the operational facilities.
- Implementation of the Vantage EHS policy and procedures
- Provide Vantage EHS reports, as per company KPI.
- Support in updating the VDC procedures and documentation as per South African regulations.
- Monitor the effective implementation of appropriate EHS System procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in legislation and company directives.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes and best practices to ensure compliance and advises top management of potential impacts as well as providing solutions to ensure corporate governance.
- Investigate, manage, and ensure that preventive measures are in place for incidents and accidents in conjunction with GMR2.1
- Drive SHE awareness on sites using toolbox talks, safety awareness campaigns, and visual safety management.
