The Oil, Gas & Chemicals Surveyor is mainly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the section. He will liaise with the Operations Manager to execute all aspects of the import and export operations in the field on behalf of our client, thereby protecting their interest. He will also assist the Operations Manager with the operations of Field Inspectors including the maintenance of the field equipment.

**Job Description**:

- Ensure the daily operations are executed to ensure customer satisfaction and safely.
- Ensure constant client communication is maintained to provide real time operational feedback with the clients.
- To verify cargo/custody transfers are carried out according to agreed standards (API), via accurate measurements, sampling and recording all the required observations.
- To have thorough knowledge of refinery/terminal operations and working closely with these or other parties during custody transfers.
- Performing cargo quantity calculations and completing reports according to standards and company requirements.
- Being able to issue protests on any actions or omissions of the terminal or vessel that might lead to discrepancies during custody transfer.
- To be able to perform and issue final quantity reports for excise purposes as per agreed standards.
- To be able to analyze all available information to determine apparent discrepancies, and to be able to conduct systematic analysis of data to determine likely cause of any variances. Then to be able to produce a loss control or investigation report.
- Liaise with terminals to ensure smooth operations protecting client’s interest. Promptly reporting findings to our principals.
- Assist with on the job refresher training, assessment of field operators,as well as to assist with field audits on tasks performed by field operators.
- Ensure all training is undertaken regularly and completed timeously (eg. CBT, SHE, safe / techtalk and Quality).
- Assist with reviews on job nominations and provide timely feedback to seniors.
- To make themselves aware and to assist in the maintenance of the QA management system.
- Must be able to act with integrity and a high level of ethical confidentiality.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- Minimum academic qualification is Grade 12.
- Marine courses would be advantageous.

**Experience**
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Petroleum/Chemical related industry.
- Terminal/Shipping background.

**Competencies**
- Ability to communicate with people in professional manner.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to do the applied research where required.
