**_ Position Purpose:_**
To provide strategic and tactical support to the Group Chief Business Development Officer in fulfilling the role of leading
business development and diversification, tourism, hospitality, preservation of heritage assets and transformation.
To champion value creation for Business Development to drive timely decision-making with mitigating risks and exposures.
Oversight of strategic deliverables by business development functions to the CBDO, including but not limited to the Corporate
Plan, Integrated Reporting, quarterly and interim reporting.
Drives the alignment with the various functions within Group Business Development, Operating Divisions and Group
Executive using a business development lens to maximise value creation, achieve business strategy and communicate
progress and stakeholders management.
To direct and lead Business Enablement, Government & Stakeholders Relations and Intra Africa Relations functions in the
Office of the CBDO.
Co-ordinate the rest of the business functions within Group Business Development.
**_ Position outputs:_**
Management: Office of the CBDO
- Oversee the provision of office management to the CBDO through an effective administration, secretarial, executive
assistance and business analysis service
- Ensure effective operational functioning and team management in the Office
- Assist the CBDO with the execution of the day to day responsibilities, including liaison with Group Portfolios reporting to the
GCE and senior management
- Maintain relationships for easier access to the Office
- Obtain urgent information for decision making and ensure continuous feedback
- Communicate and secure staffing requirements for the Office
- Support projects and initiatives undertaken by the CBDO to improve service delivery
- Support the implementation of special projects emanating from the GCEO’s Office
Relationships Management
- Identify stakeholders and facilitate constructive engagements
- Research and preparations for stakeholders’ forums; including Briefing Notes
- Coordinate responses to Parliamentary Questions and other queries on time
- Attend meetings with or represent the CBDO and follow-up on actions
- Act with transparency as a key interface with internal and external stakeholders
- Assist the CBDO to manage and coordinate internal and external stakeholders
- Position the business development function as a strategic partner to the business
Business Enablement
- Analyse the Business Plan to determine applicable deliverables for the Office
- Coordinate all CBDO submissions to governance and compliance structures
- Research customer focused service offerings across the value chain
- Enhance quality of internal and external management reporting and communication
- Advocate for a total view of the customer and improved stakeholder engagements
- Support Business Development projects to improve business performance
- Ensure communication on business development topics
- Maintain familiarity with global logistics trends to retain strategic awareness
- Manage the Risk Portfolio in Business Development
Performance Management
- Utilise existing periodic reporting frameworks to monitor business performance
- Enhance metric and performance indicators for the CBDO function
- Identify opportunities and performance gaps and alert the CBDO
- Benchmark best practice in business development and recommend improvement
- Ensure reporting on mitigation actions in audit findings for the CBDO functions
Finance and Administration
- Oversee the departmental budgeting process and ensure financial controls
- Budget management in accordance with policies and procedures
- Optimise time utilisation of the CBDO on submissions and correspondence
- Cascade the CBDO Scorecard and the DOA and ensure performance appraisals
- Manage Human Resources for the Office in accordance with policies
- Maintain high standards of corporate governance and ethical behaviour
- Manage service providers where required to ensure that deliverables are met
