morgenster wine & olive estate, internationally renowned for top quality bordeaux red wine, is looking to appoint a suitably qualified winemaker. the successful applicant will have the opportunity to create high end wines from superb quality grapes.

you will be responsible for the management of the cellar, the team and the production of wines and everything in between - inter alia:

- managing the cellar team
- grape purchases
- harvest date decisions alongside farm manager & consultant
- planning, supervising, and assisting in execution of harvest, wine movements; wine additions.
- blending; filtration; bottlings.
- assessment of wine health and quality and organising analysis
- organising bottling dry goods (incl. bottles, closure)
- wine related admin (sawis; wosa; updating wine cards)
- record keeping of chemicals/additives/wine movements.
- planning, handle wine related admin and communicating with custom crushers.
- all wine related purchases and signing off invoices.
- preparation for sawis and ipw audits
- bulk wine sales and purchases
- communicate updates of bulk wine; custom crush invoices; wine logistics; tasting notes; bottlings.
- purchase of new barrels and sale of old barrels
- organising cellar maintenance and upgrades
- manage effluent

preference will be given to applicants with exposure to bordeaux varietals, industry mentorship & suitable experience.
