**Job title**:
**Legal Counsel**

**Purpose**:
The purpose of this role is to render legal support and representation to the Flight Centre Travel Group on a wide range of commercial and contractual matters, with a focus on the travel industry.

**Primary duties and responsibilities (KRAs)**

**Legal**
- Advise the company on legal matters related to its operations, including contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Draft, review, amend, negotiate and finalise all external and internal Agreements.
- Effectively manage and maintain the e-signing processes and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with developments in commercial law and the travel industry, and provide guidance and training to other team members on legal matters.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws/regulations including IATA and ASATA.
- Review, advise and resolve disputes.
- Assist the Risk team with risk related matters.
- Advise stakeholder on various in-house legal matters.
- Consult with external legal counsel where required.
- Manage the Legal & Compliance Coordinator

**B-BBEE & POPIA Compliance**
- Ensure and enforce B-BBEE & POPIA compliance across the businesses.
- Advise on all regulatory matters/ compliance issues / legislation.
- Attend Monthly Global Privacy meetings.
- Attend to Trademark renewals and registrations.
- Draft, maintain and update all collateral on platforms.

**Company Secretarial**
- Attend to annual returns, Director Changes, authority resolutions, and company registration documents.
- Collaborate with external auditors.
- Attend Board Meetings and finalise minutes in respect thereof.
- Maintain a repository for all legal and company documents for the group.
- Maintain shareholding structure diagram and intragroup agreements.

**Hierarchy**:
Head of Risk & Audit/CFO

**Key communication and relationships**:
Internal: MD, CFO, GM’s/National SWOT

External: Practicing Attorneys/Law Firms for Litigation

**Job Requirements**

**Education and qualification**:
**Minimum requirements**

**Added **advantage**

LLB Law Degree

Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa

Experience in Commercial and Company Law

**Experience**:

- Minimum 4 years post articles experience;
- Experience in Audit firm / Commercial business
- Drafting, Reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts;
- Experience in litigation and risk management;
- Experience within an Audit Firm will be advantageous
