Role Purpose

To effectively and efficiently plan, organise, coordinate and control the reinsurance requirements for Guardrisk Life and develop and maintain relationships with life reinsurance partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science and at least 4 actuarial exams.
- At least 2 years relevant working experience in the life insurance/reinsurance industry
- Experience of structuring/reviewing legal documentation would be an advantage.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Structure optimal reinsurance arrangements for new and existing clients
- Negotiate competitive terms and timely renew existing reinsurance arrangement
- Reviews reinsurance contracts and documents reinsurance arrangements in accordance with the internal procedures and controls
- Oversee administrative implementation of reinsurance placements
- Engage clients and internal stakeholders on technical matters
- Review, update and implement the optimal risk sharing strategy
- Provides strategic and operational support
- Establish networks and effectively communicate with a diverse range of people
- Annually review current reinsurance programs and structures and evaluates alternatives, and recommends changes
- Verifies a variety of reinsurance accounts and liaises with Finance Department for remittance or reinsurance premiums in accordance with the contract requirements
- Engage with reinsurers and internal stakeholders on accounting matters
- Provides internal training and education on reinsurance matters
- Cover operations in South Africa and Mauritius
