Our client, the successful owner of a Cattle Stud Farm, which consists of over 10 farming units spread over the Northern Cape, has a requirement for a CEO (Chief Executive Officer), to manage the overall operations.

**SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the following:

- 13 Cattle Farming units each consisting of approximately 10 000 hectare of land, totalling in excess of 100000 hectare of land owned, based in the Brey area, the Vryburg area, Hartswater, Nababib and Van Zyl’s Rus.
- Staff Management - reporting directly into CEO of 9 Farm Managers, with farm workers reporting into them), 1 Accountant (with 1 Debtors Clerk, 1 Creditors Clerk and 1 Buyer reporting into her) - in total 47 people.
- Reporting to Board/Owner - the farms has 4 Quarterly Management Meetings during which all the Farms Managers, and Admin Staff meet.
- Managing HR issues with staff - interaction with HR Manager (based in Upington) if and when required.
- All Finance Administration is managed in Upington.
- Buying is done centrally from Upington, stock is then drawn from Co-ops / suppliers in the various areas.
- Responsible for Audits, Stock keeping and regular checking.
- Ensure that Control Systems in place remain well-organised.
- Manage overall neatness/order of all farm equipment, buildings, dams (infrastructure like fencing, kraals, gates, wind pumps, piping etc.).
- Regular inspection of storerooms and housing facilities.

- Ensure that CEO strategy is aligned with the business strategy for the next 5 years which encompasses key components: - Consolidate, Refine, Improve Efficiencies, Profitability. The owner is looking for someone for the long haul, ideally to take all the Farm Management activities over.

**KEY PROFICIENCIES/SKILLS REQUIRED**:

- Minimum of 10 years in a similar role.
- Experience managing cattle used for stud farming, advantageous if with Bonsmara breed.
- Staff Management.
- General Management of operations (stock, logistics, farming operations - water supply, fencing, disease control and animal health, breeding programs).
- Financial Management (Profitability).
- Computer literate.
- Proven budgeting experience.

**SOFT SKILLS**:

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional leadership/management experience.
- Overall presentation of neatness and tidiness, representative of a well-organised person.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Fully bilingual in both Afrikaans and English (Speaking the local African languages will be advantageous).
- Must be pro-active and able to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work under pressure.
- Must be prepared to travel (farm units are spared over 100 000 hectares).
- Self-discipline a key requirement.
- Honest with integrity in all conduct.

**IMPORTANT PREFERENCES**:

- Overall presentation to be neat and tidy.
- Must be trustworthy.
- Must be well-organised.
- Must have sober habits.
- It would be preferred for the CEO to be based in Vryburg, Northern Cape.

**ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS**:

- No Specific Academic Requirement (A Degree in Agricultural Economics / B.Comm will be advantageous).

**REMUNERATION**:

- CTC package - Market-related
- Vehicle (Tool of Trade)
- Provident fund is compulsory
- Medical Aid is available but to be paid for from CTC salary
- Performance Incentive Scheme / Bonus is offered and is linked to performance achievements measured over a 12-month period.

**Salary**: R950,000.00 - R1,250,000.00 per year
