Duties/Pligte
- Curriculum development and undergraduate teaching in Food Science and, more specifically, New Food Product Development;
- Involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate student supervision;
- Establishing and maintaining an active and productive research programme in Food Science, but also within the general focus of the Department and publication of such research in relevant peer-reviewed journals;
- Sourcing and managing external research funding;
- Ongoing introduction of research results by way of publications and conference contributions;
- Developing national and international research and industry partnerships and networks;
- Involvement with administrative service delivery at Departmental, Faculty and University level;
- Involvement with community interaction projects.

- Werwing en bestuur van eksterne navorsingsfondse;
- Deurlopende bekendmaking van navorsingsresultate by wyse van publikasies en kongresbydraes;
- Ontwikkeling van nasionale en internasionale navorsings
- en industrievennootskappe en -netwerke;
- Dienslewering aan die Departement, die Universiteit en toepaslike omgewings;
- Betrokkenheid by gemeenskapsinteraksie projekte.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- A clear vision of the "new food product development" for the Department of Food Science;
- Clear understanding of setting up, developing and managing the complete process of taking a product to market;
- The ability or proven experience to participate in undergraduate teaching;
- The ability to obtain external research funding;
- The ability to conduct postgraduate student supervision;
- Sound verbal and written communication skills;
- Proven leadership and managerial skills;
- A valid Code B driver's licence.
- PhD in Voedselwetenskap of verwante veld met spesialisasie in Voedselwetenskap, Voedselprosessering of Produkontwikkeling (of in finale proses van 'n PhD in genoemde vakgebiede);
- 'n Duidelike visie van "nuwe voedselproduksieontwikkeling" vir die Departement Voedselwetenskap;
- 'n Duidelike begrip van die opstel, ontwikkeling en bestuur van die totale proses om 'n produk markgereed te kry;
- Die vermoë of bewese ervaring om aan voorgraadse onderrig deel te neem;
- Die vermoë om eksterne navorsingsbefondsing te verkry;
- Die vermoë om voorgraadse studieleiding te bied;
- Goeie mondelinge en skriftelike kommunikasievaardighede;
- Bewese leierskaps
- en bestuursvaardighede;
- Ervaring in die gebruik van rekenaarsagteware (MS Word, Excel en PowerPoint).
- Bewese bevoegdheid om verskeie take selfstandig onder tyddruk te hanteer;
- Bewese bevoegdheid om goed in 'n groep te funksioneer, maar ook om selfstandig te kan werk;
- 'n Geldige Kode B rybewys.

- Recognition within the field or discipline on a national and / or international level;
- A keen interest in a research field that is a good fit with the Department's research profile;
- Relevant experience in industry-related, applied research;
- Relevant computer proficiency;
- Relevant proficiency in statistics;
- Language proficiency for a multilingual University;
- Proven leadership abilities;
- Proven competence to handle multiple tasks independently, under time pressure;
- Proven competence to function well within a group but also to work independently;
- Sound interpersonal skills;

- Willingness to collaborate across disciplines in a multidisciplinary team;
- An NRF rating or similar acknowledgement.
