- We are looking for an Adolescent Peer Educator to enhance behavioural modification strategies implemented by Anova for Adolescent and Youth Friendly Service (AYFS) program, to focus on health promotion and education, to promote healthy behaviours and prevent risk behaviours in adolescents. The intervention will focus on case identification, linkage to care and retention strategies meant for strengthening retention outcome for adolescents and young people._
**_ _**Key duties and responsibilities**:

**Preventive Services**
- Promote friendly hours including extended/flex hours at the high volume facilities to increase youth accessibility to health services
- Provide comprehensive promotion of SRH including condoms, STI and treatment working closely with Anova clinical team
- Educate youth on risky behaviours and equip them on knowledge on HIV/SRH at high volume facilities
- Promote and distribute information, education and counselling (IEC) materials on essential Adolescent and Youth Health topics
- Create demand for Prep and PEP services and refer clients
- Age-appropriate HIV risk reduction counselling
- Promote and register clients on B-wise platform at high volume facilities
- Identify youth for HIV at facilities and navigate youth for HIV testing services and linkage to other services
**Linkage and Retention Services**
- Establish, support and facilitate support groups for adolescents and youth clients in facilities
- Ensure that newly HIV diagnosed youth are successfully provided with ongoing adherence counselling that will promote treatment adherence
- Establish support system for young people with HIV disclosure for their partners
- Ensure continuous psychosocial support for the positives (HIV, TB, GBV etc.)
- To ensure that the necessary staff and systems are in place to ensure quality implementation of the youth support groups in high volume facilities
- Ensure that support groups’ registers are documented according to the developed SOP
- Support and perform monitoring activities including updating of registers, collection of statistics and validation of data on pre-determined visit dates
- Ensure that facility staff is well orientated on the registers utilised during ART support groups
**Capacity Building and Stakeholder Engagement**
- Conduct capacity-building activities for the counsellors including the updates on HTS, SRH, TB and ART care, to ensure that quality procedures are implemented at health facilities
- Identify, meet and establish working partnerships with community stakeholders
- Work closely with community health workers to ensure tracing and marketing strategies at community level
**Administrative Tasks**
- Ensure that all records of activities are well managed to ensure effective data collection
- Attend relevant meetings as required
- Compile and analyse patient data and statistics as required
- Compile and submit relevant data forms
- Audit client folders at indicated facilities to ensure correct stationary is completed correctly
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting according to Anova’s requirements
- Perform duties as assigned by the AYFS strategic plan and work plan
***Minimum qualifications, experience and skills required**:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Local youth between 19 and 30 years of age
- Currently unemployed and not engaged in formal education
- Experience in public speaking and previous leadership roles an advantage
- Good facilitation and report writing skills
- Good problem solving skills
- Punctual, reliable and organized
- Knowledge and experience in engaging with adolescents
- Excellent interpersonal and mobilizing skills
- Prior knowledge of HIV/AIDS and a recognized HIV counselling certificate would be a distinct advantage.
- Able to conduct life skills and HIV/AIDS-related discussion groups
