A well renowned FMCG Company is looking for an Agronomist to ensure a constant supply of high quality, locally grown grain products through consulting with producers and industry stakeholders.

The role is based in Johannesburg, but will be required to travel to the eastern parts of the North West and the Pretoria area for operational work

**Minimum Requirements**
- **BSc Agric **in Crop Production and/or Soil Science (minimum requirement)
- Ideally two (2) years’ experience in crop production
- Solid knowledge in soil science and crop management
- **Fluent in both English and Afrikaans**:

- Proficiency in MS Office and good presentation skills
- Effective data processing and interpretation skills
- Able to adapt to a rapidly changing agricultural environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- **Driving licence and driving experience required**:

- Willingness to travel extensively in production area and work extended hours as required
- BASOS and AVCASA certification will be an added advantage

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Efficiently and effectively transfer technical knowledge to commercial growers in order to maximise the profitability of production
- Provide assistance, training and problem solving to producers and industry to improve yield and quality
- Identify and investigate potential new production areas to expand production footprint, mitigate risk and to optimise supply chain cost
- Attend industry meetings and producer contact sessions as scheduled
- Enhance corporate image and reputation amongst all role players
- Identification of suitable emerging producers to increase our emerging farmer footprint
- Develop emerging farmers to become sustainable through mentoring and training programmes
- Assist R&D team to identify production practices research needs
- Support R&D team with execution of production practices trials
- Developing production guidelines for new varieties
- Communication of R&D results to industry
- Development and maintenance of producer base
- Monitoring crop during growing season and consult with producers on production practices
- Asses and communicate quality and production potential throughout the growing season to support the acquisition strategy
- Reporting on intake quantity and quality as well as communication regarding quality issues
