Study Coordinator

**Main purpose of the job**:
- To provide overall project management function, supervise and coordinate field research staff, conduct research activities, and support in implementing projects
**Location**:
- **Wits RHI - Tshwane Office (Pretoria)**
**Key performance areas**:
- Develop project tools such as SOPs, informed consents, participant/beneficiary information materials, technical guidelines, best practice documents, and other documents as required
- Support the development of data management/monitoring and evaluation plans
- Provide training for staff as needed
- Provide input for the design of research tools (i.e. questionnaires)
- Support the recruitment of participants
- Collaborate with Data Management to ensure the effective retention of participants
- Ensure data is collected as per GCP/other ethical guidelines’ requirements
- Conduct and provide assistance with participant visits and screening
- Maintain adherence to study protocol and standards
- Monitor and track the progress of the research project
- Coordinate and troubleshoot operational activities such as laboratory activities, IT, procurement, etc.
- Help prepare and conduct presentations to donors
- Provide ongoing feedback to the research team on the outcomes of meetings
- Attend meetings and quarterly review meetings to discuss projects
- status, updates, and developments
- Write project reports for internal and external dissemination on an ongoing basis
- Maintain all participant files and filing systems
- Ensure all participant data is kept confidential
- Quality check and control participant files
- Respond to monitoring reports
- Complete all relevant project administration as and when required
- Compile monitoring and audit reports as well as progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Attend to all staffing requirements and administration
- Supervise and manage the duties of subordinates to ensure optimal staff utilization and maintenance of sound labor relations
- Perform and facilitate performance development and assessments
- Identify substandard performance by team members and take necessary corrective action
- Coach and train subordinates and team members to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organization
- Promote harmony, teamwork, and sharing of information
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
- Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
- Stay abreast with developments in research
- Take ownership of driving your own career development in attending training and development sessions and relevant meetings
- Attend training and development sessions such as journal club, seminars, writing series workshops, etc.
**Required minimum education and training**:
- **Nursing Degree (4 years) or tertiary qualification**:
- **Additional qualifications in project management will be desirable**:
- **Proficiency in MS Office**:
- **Valid drivers license**
**Required minimum work experience**:
- **3-5 years experience in research**
**Professional Body registration**:
- South African Nursing Council (SANC) or Equivalent
**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:
- Postgraduate studies in Public Health
- Understanding of Research Environment, GCP (Good Clinical Practice); Grants Management Expertise, Financial Acumen; Project Management Skills; Quality Assurance Experience
- Leadership through influence, conflict management skills, and professional, team player
- Good communication and detail orientated
