RESPONSIBILITIES:_
- The incumbent will be responsible for:_
- _The curriculum development of and lecturing of modules in the programme(s) based in the department;_
- _In addition, the incumbent will pursue research activities such as own research, research-based publications and the supervision of post graduate students registered in the department; _
- _Developing, presenting and co-ordinating undergraduate and postgraduate courses for pre-service and in-service teachers and other students for contact and distance presentation;_
- _Mentoring students for practice teaching/work integrated learning;_
- _Using a learning management system to develop and present courses;_
- _Presenting lectures and programmes in an E-learning environment;_
- _Providing a significant contribution to research outputs, post graduate teaching and supervision._
- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:_
- LECTURER:_
- _Master’s degree in the field of Computer Integrated Education / Educational Technology;_
- _Evidence of teaching experience in Computer Integrated Education for example being a teacher, tutor or lecturer;_
- _At least one publication in an accredited journal or equivalent units;_
- SENIOR LECTURER:_
- _PhD in the field of Computer Integrated Education / Educational Technology;_
- _At least three years of tertiary or related teaching experience;_
- _At least five accredited publications and evidence of conference papers;_
- _Evidence of successful Masters or PhD supervision;_
- ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR:_
- _PhD in the field of Computer Integrated Education / Educational Technology;_
- _At least five years of tertiary or related teaching experience;_
- _Experience in curriculum development and innovation;_
- _At least ten accredited publications;_
- _At least four Post Graduate students successfully supervised, of which at least two on PhD level;_
- _Active membership of national scholarly bodies;_
- _National peer recognition (citations, keynote/plenary addresses);_
- _Proven research funding success;_
- _Community engagement in a related field;_
- _Academic citizenship - external examination / article reviews etc;_
- _Active membership of international scholarly bodies._

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

- Knowledge of the different knowledge fields Computer Integrated Education;
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies in the different knowledge fields of Computer Integrated Education;
- Knowledge of the South African education system regarding Computer Integrated Education;
- Knowledge of and experience of facilitation in an E-learning environment;
- Appropriate language and communication skills;
- Ability to work as an individual and in a team.
- _Academic administration and participation in departmental/faculty committees._

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

- Highly skilled in Educational Technology hardware and software;
- Evidence of coordination responsibilities and membership of committees;
- Participation in Departmental Meetings;
- Evidence of involvement in community engagement programmes;
- Associate Professor level: NRF rating.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
