Electrical Product Compliance Specialist

Job Specification (not totally inclusive)

Ensuring that every Ex certified machine and sub-assembly leaving Komatsu premises complies with the applicable explosion protection Regulations, standards and Komatsu procedures;
Ensuring that all certification details for every machine are captured, recorded, and updated accordingly, and supply that information for inclusion in Safety Documents Files that go to the customer;
Ensuring all certification information is received or created and captured, or updated on all applicable databases/archives;
Provide technical support to internal and external auditors, as well as other Engineering departments;
Provide technical support and on-the-job training to manufacturing teams,
Ensuring compliance of local/export products with relevant approvals;
Conducting awareness training to new hires and refresher training to other employees;
Auditing of Ex certified product and product quality documentation;
Compiling Safety Documents Files; and
Travelling to other Komatsu or customer sites for meetings or machine inspections.

Minimum Skills required

Qualified Electrician or Millwright, or completed an Electrical Engineering Diploma or equivalent ;
At least 3-5 years’ compliance experience in Heavy Engineering or Mining environment;
Experience with explosion protected (Ex) equipment with emphasis on flameproofing and intrinsic safety;
Knowledge of hazardous locations in underground coal mines and the selection of equipment for use in such locations ;
Knowledge of regulatory requirements for (Ex) equipment;
Must be able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings;
Experience in the auditing of documentation will be an advantage;
SAP experience and computer literate in MS Office suit; and

Must have valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
