Overview

The Primary Researcher & Media Analyst is expected to be data driven and insights lead. This role demands bravery, presence and the skills to make a meaningful impact. Never just taking and executing orders, they are expected to direct, inspire and add value at every turn. Understanding the impact you have on the businesses outcomes of our clients brings with it a high level of accountability and responsibility. Collaboration, a willingness to teach others and a real desire to push the boundaries with the client and the team is essential. Some working outside the traditional nine-to-five may be necessary.

Responsibilities

You will be involved with strategists and clients simultaneously, and it will be important that you develop a good understanding and identify specific business needs for each one.

Your average week may include:

Media Analytics
  1. Produce and present competitive advertising expenditure reports, analyses and reviews.
  2. Produce and present audience / market insights reports for customers/consumers in South Africa and Africa – media landscape documents - category or market trends – brand specific consumer / audience profiles & trends.
  3. Produce and present audience tracking reports and analyses.
  4. Produce and present media inflation reports and presentations.
  5. Respond to global data, reports and insight queries for central services.
  6. Produce and manage live dashboards/reports in Google Studio or any other preferred Publicis Groupe platform you are trained on.
  7. Work with the Data Sciences team to build and maintain live dashboards.
  8. Input into POV's - Points of View documents, including, but not limited to various landscape documents in South Africa and Africa, on eCommerce, social media, media inflation, channel specific or other required at the time.
  9. Share skills and knowledge with your teams, strategists and junior colleagues.
  10. Source insightful and useful information that would benefit not only media, but all the Publicis Groupe companies. Readily share this information through the Lion Library on Teams, via email and the Cognition WhatsApp group.

  1. Research Design and management
  2. Receiving and processing client briefs
  3. Scoping and costing projects
  4. Developing questionnaires and achieving client objectives
  5. Survey administration and execution
  6. General project management
  7. Report preparation and presentation
  8. Data interpretation and report writing
  9. Identification and interpretation of insights
  10. Document finalization and quality control
  11. Present reports
  12. Panel Management Support
  13. Panel data cleaning
  14. Respondent communication
  15. Respondent pay-outs
New Business Development
  1. Support business pitches with research and insights requests.
  2. Actively seek opportunities to cross-sell research and analytics products within the Publicis group of agencies and attract new clients external to the existing group.
Qualifications
  1. English fluency and language skills for effective business writing.
  2. A qualification in communications, research, analytics, data visualization or media management.

Experience:

  1. Must have at least 3 years of experience in media analytics or primary researcher.
  2. Most suitable candidates will have skills in both primary research and media analytics.

  6. Advanced software skills including; Microsoft Word, best-in-class PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and web-based applications.
  7. Must be able to cross-tabulate data – Telmar Survey Time, TGI Choices, GWI online or other.
  8. Able to analyze large volumes of data in excel.
  9. Is efficient at planning workload and tackles multiple projects in an organised fashion.
