Overview

As a Transportation Field Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll be a part of a highly trained and growing Construction Inspection and Engineering group that performs project management, quality control, quality assurance, project documentation, and other related services for the WVDOH.

Projects may range from bridge rehabilitation, bridge construction, roadway construction, grade / drain / pave, highway lighting, and highway signing.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform construction observation and documentation.
  2. Perform field testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt to determine project compliance.
  3. Interact with construction site personnel, engineers, and state and federal representatives while presenting yourself in a professional manner.
  4. Drive and maintain the appearance and operation of company vehicles to and from job sites.
  5. Write daily reports, interpret project plans/specifications, and enter data into required web-based applications.
  6. Communicate with owners, project supervisors, and contractor personnel while on-site.

Qualifications:

  1. WV TRET Certification Level 1-5 preferred.
  2. Minimum 1-3 years field experience working in the construction industry with emphasis on roadway construction or heavy civil engineering projects.
  3. Ability to perform field tests using specialized equipment designed to collect data from various construction materials, i.e., nuclear density gauge, penetrometer, and hand tools.
  4. Minimum of high school education.
  5. Ability to interpret project plans and specifications.
  6. Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  7. Ability to write accurate and concise field reports.
