The Production / Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring products are manufactured according to their deadlines. The correct manufacturing processes are followed at all times during manufacture to ensure the smooth daily running of the machine and product processes, as well as perform any ad hoc duties as requested by Management.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  1. No production can be done without the Production Team Lead issuing batch sheets with instructions to you.
  2. Ensure all loadcells and scales are working by test weighing using water at the beginning of each shift. Ensure take-off points are working and not leaking.
  3. If machinery is defective in any way, it is to be reported immediately to the supervisor/manager.
  4. Ensure all Solvent Meters are dispensing correctly by weighing 25lt – 50lt of the solvent that is to be used in the batch. Ensure scales are working by test weighing using water at the beginning of each shift.
  5. Ensure that the vessel is sprayed with solution before the batch is started.
  6. Prior to starting the manufacturing of a product, the Production Operator must ensure that the required packaging has been picked and set aside for the product being manufactured.
  7. Ensure all instructions on the batch sheet are followed at all times, including any rework that needs to be added.
  8. Ensure machines are operated and loaded as per the machine SOPs.
  9. Assist in the pre-weighing of Raw Materials and Packaging when required for any batches being manufactured. All pre-weighing materials to be placed on pallets and marked in order of loading in accordance to the batch sheet.
  10. Operate & load the vessels as per batch sheet instructions, with in-process sampling required during the batch process. No products or raw materials to be lifted onto the mezzanine without being placed on a pallet. No additions are to be added to the batch unless authorized and signed by Quality Control.
  11. Ensure product samples are taken to the Quality Assurance Technician at the correct stage in the manufacturing process. It is also your responsibility to ensure that any adjustments recommended by the Quality Assurance Technician are made.
  12. When a new product is being manufactured, it is the Production Operator's responsibility to pay full attention at all times during manufacture and note down recommendations made by the Quality Assurance Technician.
  13. Ensure all sieves that may be used during manufacture are cleaned correctly and stored in a closed bucket. Use the correct sieve as indicated on the batch sheet.
  14. Ensure all packaging stock of finished goods is packed directly on pallets, not on the floor.
  15. Ensure products are labelled correctly, i.e., product labels are placed correctly in the demarcated area.
  16. Ensure products are stretch wrapped before they are moved over to the staging area.
  17. Once products have been packed down from the vessel, labelled, palletised and shrink wrapped correctly, the Production Operator must advise the Production Team Lead that products are ready to be moved from the production area over to the Staging Area.
  18. Ensure the vessel is washed down and ready for the next batch after the product has been packed.
  19. Ensure that the working area is clean, neat and orderly at all times.
  20. Ensure loadcells and scales are cleaned after use.
  21. Outside of vessels and pipework are to be cleaned when waiting for raw materials or during any lull periods.
  22. Operate the company forklift as per the SOP in a safe and responsible manner.
  23. No cellphones are to be used in the production area at any time.
  24. No food is allowed in the production area.
  25. Consistently adhere to Company policies and procedures.
  26. Perform all tasks to a high standard to meet Standard Operating Procedures and Codes of Conduct.
