Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and bank statements.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Analyze financial data and generate reports for management review.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payment processing, and reconciliation.
    • Monitor overdue accounts and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Provide financial analysis and insights to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Tax Compliance:
    • Ensure timely and accurate filing of VAT, PAYE, and other tax returns.
    • Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors as needed.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular stock takes.
    • Monitor inventory levels and identify discrepancies.
  • Payroll Management:
    • Process payroll and ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations.
    • Maintain employee payroll records and handle payroll-related queries.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
    • Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Qualifications:
    • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably in the retail and wholesale industry.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
