About the role

The successful candidate will form part of the senior management team within finance, reporting to the CFO of Vitality (South Africa) and assisting in the creation and execution of strategic objectives related to finance business and product process design and management. This is a hands-on strategic management role responsible for product ownership of gym, physical activity and devices, travel, money rewards, as well as finance product process ownership for all other products.

Job Purpose

Outputs may include but are not limited to:

  1. Engagement and stakeholder management
    • Collaborates and engages seamlessly across multiple teams within Vitality and the broader Discovery Group, external partners, and suppliers to ensure superior product and business solutions.
    • Ensures alignment of multiple stakeholders to agree on outcomes – acts as a bridge between business and technical.
    • Seen as the trusted advisor and subject matter expert in the area.
  2. Process management relating to finance products and processes:
    • Proactively conducts ongoing assessments of operational business process efficiencies, driving continuous improvement and process maturity with a strong innovation mindset.
    • Designs innovative and efficient processes leveraging digital technologies.
    • Deeply understands product and business processes as well as integration areas and adapts them to design work.
    • Uses best practice research to drive designs and collaboration.
    • Responsible for driving and implementing process automation and creating efficiencies through new technology innovations.
  3. Works with key stakeholders (Research & Development, Product and Business Owners, Finance, Project Management, Development Team, Commercial Team, etc.) to ensure seamless project delivery on product launches and benefit enhancements impacting finance products and processes. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Contributing towards the conceptualization of new products and managing the product development cycle from design to implementation as business owners of these key strategic products.
    • Extracting business requirements and reviewing functional specifications as input into systems development.
    • Overseeing delivery of necessary product specifications.
    • Using project management techniques to manage product and prioritize backlog.
    • Contributing towards developing internal business structures and practices that optimize the product development lifecycle.
  4. Participates in capacity building and skills transfer.

Education / Qualifications / Accreditations with Professional Body

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Business Science, B. Com, Business Analysis, Process Design, Engineering, IT, or similar.
  2. Honours or Master's degree (Preferred).
  3. Relevant additional qualifications in the industry – e.g., process accreditation, Agile tool-based accreditations (Advantageous).

Work Experience

  1. 6+ years' experience in business process analysis, process design, and/or comparable consulting experience.
  2. Management consulting experience (Advantageous).
  3. Experience working in finance or with finance deliverables (Preferred).
  4. Proven ability to deliver in a hands-on environment, taking full accountability for work objectives and associated benefits (Advantageous).
  5. Experience in IT implementation projects or working in blended delivery teams (e.g., Agile) (Advantageous).
  6. Proactive and curious mindset.
  7. Hands-on working style.
  8. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  9. Ability to think strategically and translate strategy to action plans.
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Ability to deliver results.
