Unitrans is seeking a dedicated Safety and Compliance Manager to join our team. This pivotal role involves developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety plans in alignment with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will lead initiatives to foster a robust culture of safety through policy formulation and enforcement, ensuring adherence across all operational areas.

Minimum Requirements
  • Experience in a similar role: 3 years or more
  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelors Degree / National Diploma
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant Safety legislation.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing teams through others.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and execution.
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency in relevant software.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver training.
  • Ability to travel extensively.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety and compliance procedures, and targets in line with organisational goals.
  • Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of IMS and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulatory and statutory requirements across the 10 countries in which Unitrans operates.
  • Ensure relevant managers are aware of their responsibilities in terms of safety under the relevant Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability across the organisation.
  • Conduct risk assessments and oversee incident investigations to drive continuous improvement.
  • Plan and execute compliance assurance audits to identify gaps and ensure adherence to safety and compliance standards.
  • Ensure all compliance audits are appropriately managed, with corrective and preventative measures in place.
  • Provide safety and compliance leadership and technical expertise to the team and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with management to integrate safety and compliance principles into daily operations.
