Come and join this dedicated team as our Section Manager Production Processing where you will be responsible for ensuring that the plant process operates effectively in order to produce the quality and quantity of metals planned as required. Coordinates labour, equipment and services as required for the role.

Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Safety: Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.

Performance and Delivery:

  1. Assist Manager Production Processing develop annual budget for plant sections.
  2. Production targets focused on controllable variables not inputs.
  3. Ensure that plant section operates daily with guidelines in a sustainable manner and maintain process recipe.
  4. Develop and maintain site specific standards, codes of practices, systems and procedures in accordance with guidelines and the Act.
  5. Optimize plant within recipe, identify key performance shortfalls and gaps including critical improvement areas.
  6. Manage performance of direct production staff and take corrective action to shift targets to achieve daily targets.
  7. Take corrective action to daily/weekly/monthly targets achieve weekly/monthly/quarterly targets.
  8. Ensure availability, and allocate production resources (people, materials, money) across all shifts.
  9. Tactical plans for implementation of plant goals and objectives.
  10. Set support service requirements to achieve production targets.
  11. Develop concentrators plant annual budget.
  12. Actions to maximize synergies between plant sections.
  13. Shift leave roster and shift overtime within company policy.
  14. Risks and threats to people and process during shift, stopping the operation if the working conditions are unsafe.
  15. Take corrective action within recipe to shift/daily targets to achieve daily/weekly targets.
  16. Planned shutdowns and preventive maintenance of plant section and machinery.
  17. Manage performance of once removed production staff.
  18. Manage direct report leave including disciplining employees to agreed policies and procedures.
  19. Stopping the operation if the working conditions are unsafe / environmentally unacceptable.
  20. Allocation of work plans.
  21. Corrective actions for SHE deficiencies and ongoing support to achieve operational goals.
  22. Ensure integrity of process flow sheet and technologies.
  23. Ensure that shifts are adequately staffed with competent people and manage Plant succession plans.
  24. Solve plant boundary problems.
  25. Monitor and control metals flow and inventories to minimize plant lock up.
  26. Communicates vision and values effectively and inspires others towards the same.
  27. Implementation of applicable Safety, Regulations, The Act, Codes of practice and standards.
  28. Review safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports – plan of action.
  29. Plant acceptance of new technologies and facilitate technology transfer.
People & Teams:
  1. Implement a purpose-driven, high-performing culture that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity, supports engagement and fosters continuous improvement to work processes.
Compliance:
  1. Ensure compliance to Anglo American internal and external compliance (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements.
This role is at Band 6 level reporting to Manager Production Processing

Qualifications
  1. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy degree / Diploma.
Experience
  1. At least five years post graduate qualification experience relevant for the role.
  2. Knowledge of the best utilization/business applications of management and plant processing.
  3. Production experience in a Smelting or Processing environment will be advantageous.
Knowledge And Skills
  1. Proficient in technical ability skills and technical understanding of Process control systems.
  2. Proficient in computer skills for the role including Business systems e.g. SAP.
  3. Proficient on SHE systems management.
