Solution Engineer / Pre-sales

Location: Cape Town area, South Africa

PayComplete provides software, hardware and services for cash handling, payments, and self-service transaction solutions to thousands of enterprise customers throughout the world.

Our technology enables customers in retail, transportation, banking, vending and cash centers to automate their cash handling, provide a single platform for unified payments, and present their end consumers with tailored self-service applications. Central to everything we do are our IoT transaction platform (Connect on Device) and SaaS cloud platform (Connect) which manage our devices and the transactions processed on those devices.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Solution Engineer.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Main goal: To support the sales team through its sales strategies to assist in attracting new clients.

The Solution Engineer will be instrumental in laying the groundwork for their sales team to be successful and analyze the market, run focus groups, and craft pitches for Sales Consultants to use in the field. They will act as a technical sales support for the sales team throughout the entire sales process, supporting the effective presentation of the broad range of hardware and software solutions used to create a coherent solution for the end client. The Solution Engineer will manage interactions with technical customers and demonstrate APIs, scripts, and integration software. They will be accountable for all technical requirements gathering in a format ready to be handed over to development and engineering teams.

An excellent collaborator and top-notch communicator to support their significant interaction with customers and the sales team, supported by strong technical knowledge and experience within the Retail, hospitality or Public Transport sector (fare collection, parking, etc.).

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyse potential markets before product launch.
  • Craft sales pitches for the sales team.
  • Assist the sales team in qualifying prospects.
  • Provide product knowledge support to the sales team.
  • Demonstrations: Own the demo systems and configuration.
  • Technical solutioning: Discuss with a technical buyer how to work with our dev portal, our APIs, DDK, SDK, etc.
  • Light programming: web app development (JavaScript, HTML) and writing to APIs.
  • Assist the sales team with the creation of detailed bid submissions.
  • Participate in the creation of strategy for the market sector.
  • Report and provide feedback to management and maintain an up-to-date client record history within the company's CRM system.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • English at C1 level
  • Min. 5 years of experience in sales of capital equipment or software pre-sales (ideally product background IT based: hardware and software)
  • Technical background, programming or development history along with knowledge on APIs, scripting and integration software.
  • Familiarity with different sales techniques and pipeline management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Total commitment to long-term customer relationships.
  • Good PC skills and familiarity with Office programs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in working with a Salesforce (CRM) system for client management
  • Strong strategic thinking skills
  • Good analytical skills
